10 years ago I was a subscriber to Minitruckin' because I have always been more of a truck man than a car man. Roughly around 1998 MT started running features on Hondas that by todays standards were totally rice. I was so disappointed that I didn't renew my subscription. If I wanted to read up on cars I would buy a car magazine. 10 years later I start picking up copies of the mag at my local grocer, looked like they dropped the car features. So tonight I pick up the newest edition and what do I find? A riced out Honda Accord feature. Come On! If MT wants to sell more mags how about they feature more trucks?!? Just an idea but I now know I won't be subscribing this time around. I buy a truck mag to read about trucks. I know that desperate times call for desperate measures but this is just silly. Sorry MT, 10 years ago you let me down, 10 years later you are doing it again.

Kind of sucks that the Ford Ranger is the ONLY new mini truck still on the US market. Most of our cool little trucks were acquired inexpensively and secondhand. 15 years from now there will be no mini-truck scene, and if there is it will be diminished to the point where it will almost be nonexistant which brings up a line I've used here before... behold the tyrants of progress.

I guess it isn't all bad, I can be enthusiastic about any car.

I have read that finished mini-trucks are becoming rare, the mag has very few to chose from as most are never-to-be-finished projects while 75% of the finished trucks are not painted. Still, going the car route only turns me off further.

never been attracted to what that magazine actually considered 'mini trucks'

i consider my truck a mini truck cause of how small it is... but by the definition that magazine seemed to give i hated the name mini truck

I agree, to see old Datsun, Mazda and Toyota trucks gutted and hacked up makes me cry inside. I read the mag because every once in a while, few and far between, they cover something I like. I will admit an article from the November issue helped me score a fuel tank for my 96. Otherwise the mag works as white noise for my eyes.

I wished they had a mini truck mag that was not all LOWERED trucks, does anyone keep a 2 wd truck normal ride height yet mod them? I like being able to go over a speed bump and climb a curb, that is what a truck is for. No one has a mag or articles for that. it is 4 wd jacked to the moon or 2 wd dragging its azz over a penny in the road LOL. I would like to see modded 2 wd trucks that have normal ride height, i use a truck as a truck or i would but another Z. And would like to see guys who mod on a budget smaller than the national defense budget. I like the mods real folks can afford. I would like to see ideas from others like me who do stuff themselves but on a real world budget. I would like some new ideas.

Not many people mod a vehicle without adjusting its ride height. I am dropping mine a little bit in the spring but not much. Going for the ITT stance. Anything lower and the truck becomes useless and undriveable. I respect minitruckers welding skills, just not their taste most of the time. Skulls and flames are pretty played out to me and I see a lot of those in that mag. What's most sad is that the mag can be read cover to cover in one sitting while taking a dump. The old mags I have from 94-95 covered a lot of ground and I still find myself reading them from time to time.

A few things I see on almost every Nissan truck that's been bagged and laying frame.

1) Phantom Grille= Been done since the mid 90's. 2) Eskies= More than played out3) Shaving the parking lights= truck looks goofy without parking lamps4) Shaved Tailgate= A truck without a tailgate isn't a truck.

To each's own I guess and my taste falls in the minority. Like what was mentioned above, I get flustered when I see a truck that has $10k invested but they haven't touched the engine beyond intake and exhaust. None of the trucks in the months copy of MT have much done to the engines to speak of, I want to see trucks go fast!! That inspires me, race trucks. MT skips right over those and shows more incomplete trucks than anything. That and the Honda Accord which doesn't belong in the mag in the first place. No, I won't be subscribing anytime soon.

That truck is amazing but stuff like that doesn't get coverage in MT otherwise my wallet would have fallen out of my pocket for a subscription.

I used to have subscription to most bike magazines and some had great readers ride sections, showed readers bikes and the mods they had done. Not show quality high buck stuff just cool and innovative back yard stuff. Got great ideas from that section. I would love to find a mini truck mag with that kind of stuff. Guys doing mods on a real budget. I have seen some different car mags that have some cool interior stuff guys came up with and did themselves that was usable on my truck. I just like to see other folks ideas as that can inspire me to do things i may not have thought of on my own. Too many mags are just show trucks, I mean who has 20k to toss into a daily driver? Maybe we need to start a magazine LOL

Minitruckin' is more of a lifestyle mag.

There was a truck mag, Tailgate, that covered all ends of the truck spectrum, from slammed to monsters, and had some pretty cool tech articles as well.

Honestly, if you want to learn real tech and DIY stuff, pick up Rod & Custom magazines like Ol' Skool Rods & Kar Kulture. Hot rodders started it all and the same techniques transfer to any vehicle.

You can get basic suspension & body work books at Barnes & Nobles or Borders as well and apply things you learn in them to your work too.

The mags like minitruckin' exist basically for 4 minitruck clubs to circle jerk each other. Severed Ties, Relaxed Atmosphere, Negative Camber, and No Regrets are the only rides you'll really ever see represented in there. There may be the occasional rare interloper from some other club, but not often.

And FYI, being bagged, shaved, etc. doesn't make my truck useless. It still Hauls.

a**.

the logical side of my brain gets kinda annoyed with hacked up bondoed slammed trucks, BUT they have their place. someones gotta be out there doing extreme s***.

i like having a mild triple purpose truck instead. transportation/hauling, business, and some racing!

Nothing wrong with slamming a truck, but to me it is pointless to have a truck that cannot at least go off a 4 inch curb without getting hung up. I like low slung rides, had a 300ZXTT that rode low and fast, but it was a car. Trucks to me serve a different purpose in life, to be used as utility vehicle. For show rides who cares but for me a daily drive I slam mine I would not make it to work before I knocked the bottom out of it. I wished they had a mag for real world drivers, not just the show trucks that are as practical as a brick for driving. They all have their place, just would like a mag for real world drivers and real world trucks. An enthusiast truck mag, not just the obsessed perfect painted ground dragging ones LOL

I'm not criticizing the truck aspect of MT. While I cringe at chopped Datsuns what makes me most mad is seeing cars in a truck mag. There are lots of magazine titles dedicated to cars, why do they also have to be in a truck magazine? That's my biggest gripe. MT is already anorexic enough, throw a car spot in there and the mag becomes even slimmer for the truck guys.

Since I saw this thread I figured I would go out and pick up a copy since it has been years since the last time I opened that mag.

While I was grocery shooping I hit the mag section. None there. No biggie. I was at another store yesterday and the day before and they both dont carry it.

I wonder if its no longer in my area. No big loss. Been this long without it I am sure I can last longer

Yeah I would like to see one mag dedicated to small trucks(many more around now as gas gets crazy) that basic folks like us build and modify but still drive on a daily basis. I drive it everyday haul crap when needed even get it muddy from time to time. I love to fish and a truck can get me to fishing holes a car cannot. it has a killer stereo but is daily driver and work horse. I still love to see mods that we can USE, not just show off, not that I am against a clean shiny truck. I want to repaint mine but no way i spend the money that some do. if it gets a scratch I do not want to cry LOL. I like to see interior custom stuff that is nice and pretty yet functional. I like a truck to sit like a truck, mods that make it better for real daily real world use. Like a buddy who wanted to haul his bike on a trailer but did not like the looks of a hitch. He built a fram between the frames hid the reciever behind the tag. he went to junk yard and got a fold down tag bracket from old domestic car. Now that was a cool mod that is practical but keeps the rear end clean and smooth.
