For those of you who have never gone to Fontana Dam, NC, you are missing out. The road is called, The Tail of the Dragon. It has 318 turns in 11 miles. Plus, most of it has a 55mph speed limit. It was absolutely BONKERS. Me and my friend went down with his Mini Cooper S. As much as i love my G, i have to say, it cant hold a candle to that little go-kart. On to the Pics!!!

All in all, a fan-freaking-tastic trip. There were over 600 Mini Owners. It. Was. NUTS!

PS. I took over 1500 Pics. I uploaded around 500 to flickr. Check them out http://www.flickr.com/photos/h...6399/

OMG, those little things are multiplying like bunnies!!!

Seen all of them is scary. What's the deal with the headlights...3 have both and the 4th only has one? lol

The minis would have probably turned gremlin on your G anyway!!!

yeah, ive come to appreciate the Mini's inherent character. Sadly, our cars are too perfect to have character. Mini's squeak, have electrical problems, and are 100% lovable. There was one owner who was talking to us. She was sitting out side of her car with the keys in her pocket, and the car was running its wipers for no reason. Its stuff like that that makes these little gremlins special.

No, my opinion didn't change. I've just decided not to jump on people over stuff like that, especially since the general atmosphere regarding street racing has changed a little.

Great story, and terrific pics! Kinda strange to see all of those tiny cars in one place like that tho...was there a clown college nearby?

Uhhh...no not true, NICO doesn't advocate street racing in any shape or form.So not too sure where that came from

There was no mention of "racing" anyhere in this thread, so you had no reason to 'jump" on anyone.

I didn't think the other thread that was on this same subject promoted street racing either FTR.

I'm not going to get into the details here, but the last few threads on racing shed a very different light on things than those from a few months ago.

Also, I didn't "jump" on anyone in this thread. I think those little minis are scare little gremlins though.

Woohoo, mt's still around. Good to see you, you should stop by more often.

Are you sure it was a clown college? Cuz my impression was that it was a carney college. I mean given the location, it kinda makes sense.

<<For a few reasons

there was no racing per-se. it was more of a "who has the balls to drive speed limit here" sort of deal. the limit was 55 for most of it. trust me when i say, you are lucky to make it to 30 before the next turn. that being said, it made for one of the most heart pounding, gut wrenching drives of my life. id take this over stupid street racing any day. if only because there are no riced out civics to be seen.

We had a 05 M3 and a heavily modified Z32 down there on the tail a couple of weeks ago.

Didn't really get to play with the Z because of traffic, but damn it was still exhilarating.

I would pay good money to have that road closed and be able to take a Lotus or Ariel out there.

there were a couple Elise's there. it was bonkers. the Z32 would be too fat to be decent on those roads. even our g's would be too fat. cant wait for the next run.

Looks like fun - would love to take it in the G, on the bike, and maybe even in the old Mustang after it gets the 351, fuel injection and a pair of junk yard turbos... kinda reminds me of Mt. Palomar down San Diego way - would love to get a group together for a Palomar run some day.

Great Pics! looks like you had a blast.
