So my g/f's uncle buys a Mini Cooper S. He just gets it, dark gray/white roof. Very impressive/interesting look. Interior is a little girly but over all its a pretty bad *** machine. So he takes me for a ride in a little neighborhood. We are driving down the main stretch of the neighborhood as he says very calmly "Ok, we're gonna turn.........(and as he says it I fly practically in his lap) HERE!" So we take this sharp a$$ turn to the next court at about 40mph, no tire screetch at all, just plants and goes. Just so happens that the road we turn on it like a giant U-Turn. He doesnt let up, in fact put the pedal down a bit more and flies around the court. This car has absolutley no body roll at all. It is simply amazing how it plants and goes. He just got it and they say to break it in by not bringing it above 3500RPM where the supercharge kicks in. So I really didnt get to feel if it accelerated quickly or not. Then he lets me drive it, hehehehehe!!!! :D Very trusting person. All-in-all this car is the best handling automobile I have ever stepped foot in. If you ever get the chance, go Test drive one!!!P.S. I was looking at the detroit auto show pictures and saw the new Suzuki Concept S. Looks pretty much identical to the Mini Cooper, although much more masculine! Check it out. http://www.carpoint-msn.com

Yea, a Mini Cooper would be a nice winter car to have.

Nicely suspension-modded 240FDFCMX-5

Automobile Magazine, regarding the MiniJune 2002

haha, it's not too often that you see a famed car magazine scrutinize a new car. They normally say something like," it's not a looker, but what it lacks in personality, it sure makes up for it in handling." It's nice to see direct put-downs like that K Car. No more fancy talk from Car and Driver.

Car and Driver and some mini-s owners i have talked to said that its one hard a.ss mother f***er to control at high speeds...they say its a constant battle to keep it str8 and until then, they've 'never driven a car that fights back.' lol i got a good laugh out of that.

I think they have a N/A track model of the Mini Cooper that has a different suspension setup than the Cooper S. I haven’t seen these in action, but two people at work have them. One "S" and one track model. I can’t imagine myself buying a boutique car. The same holds true for the VW Bug.

Welcome to the world of BMW. Out of the factory, most every BMW handles like a dream. My mom's 2001 330ci handles just about as well as my 240 (sportlines + strut bar). I've never pushed the 330ci to the limit, like I have w/ my 240, but it definitely has the potention. Jesus. What a car.

Nick.

The best-handling car I've ever driven was my neighbors modded protege, never talked to smack to him about that car ever again.

I have KYB AGX Shocks, Eibach Springs, and strut tower bar and that mini cooper would kill me around a off ramp. Hate to see people flame cars that they have never been in even if it looks really girly. It's funny how you say the car is for people that are openly gay cause my g/f's uncle just got married and also owns a BMW M3 coupe................

Regardless of the looks, the Coop would OWN the 240 (mods or not) on a road course or a skidpad. Get over it.

Besides, when you say "suspension-modded 240", you may as well say: "Dude, a shifter kart could outhandle that queer-looking Mini POS." Well, duh.

When you drive just one car a day, all day, every day, you start to think it's impressive - even if it's just average.

Personally, I think the Cooper S is a very cool looking little car - and I can't say I have any gay tendencies at all ;)

Mind you there are a good number of very good performing cars on sale in Europe right now - having just arrived back in Florida yesterday I've seen quite a few of them too :)

I hate to say this but I must admit to liking the look of French cars nowadays - has the world gone mad?

And before you say too much - The French own Nissan ;)

I like the look of the Citron <sp?> rally cars that are on the Speed Channel, WRC. Those are French, right? If not, the Peugot rally cars look pretty dope too.

As for the French owning Nissan, when did that happen? That's an interesting little tidbit of knowledge.

From what I understand Renault is the major shareholder of Nissan nowadays?

I just got back from Scotland yesterday and I saw a good number of Skylines, EVO VII's & VIII's etc on my trip - here is a pic of a Mini Cooper and a Skyline taken in the car park of Aldi Markt (Supermarket) in Dalkeith just outside of Edinburgh before Xmas 2002

The car I am sitting in is my Mothers JDM Mazda 121 Funtop (1300cc 16v) which I imported to the UK from Hong Kong way back in 1998 which you can see part of in the rear view mirror ;)

HAHAHA - Not happening, Reep - Not until they build a Mini that can boil the rear hides down to the bare cords, bring home 35 bags of groceries and still haul a family of 5 in leather-swaddled comfort from Phoenix to Ft Worth at 130 mph....
