I did the S13 SR20DET engine swap into my S14 over the weekend. Installed was a Mine's Ecu setup for stock injectors and mafs. From my understanding, the mine's ecu takes out the boost, rev, fuel cut, and speed limiter. Also I believe that it advances the low end fuel map and retards the high end fuel map. This information was found in a prior post I found on this forum.

So with all this in mind, I started driving with my new engine and mines ecu. From my experience, this is what I could tell.

With the stock T-25 turbo and the advanced timing in the low end, the turbo spools at extremely low rpms. It would start spooling at high 1,000's and by the end of 3,000 rpms, it would already be at full spool. I noticed I've been driving through the gears, and short shifting at around 3,000 to 3,500 rpms. since by the time I go from low rpms to about 3,500 its already spooling pretty high.

Now once it starts spooling, after about 3,000rpms or so, the increase of boost is pretty steady. If I were to push it, the feeling at the low end hits you a little, then going thru the mid rpm ranges it would feel a little flat - just like a very even increase in spool/boost. Though once you hit about over 6,000 rpms it just starts a noticable increase in boost till about 7,500 or so. I would think it would have to do with the retarded high end fuel map. So once you hit about 6 grand to 7,500 +, you notice an increase an increase in spooling and it starts to pull a little harder.

As for fuel economy. I drove for 164 or so miles, and went to fill up the rest of my tank. It only took 5.4 gallons to fill it up. Meaning you're looking at maybe 31 miles per gallon. Surprisingly enough, throughout the course of driving those 164 miles, it would all boosting on the highway and streets. Those 164 miles were driven fairly equally on both highways and streets.

And another time I drove 176 miles all on full boost pushing the car to its limit. Took about 7 gallons to fill it up. So thats about 25 miles to the gallon.

Setup while driving this car:

Walbro 255lph fuel pumpflexalite dual fans9lbs of boost from mine's ecuStock redtop turbogreddy fmicstock radiator3.5" exhaustgeneric intakedenso iridium spark plugsamsoil 10w30 syn oil

Hope this information can be useful to you.

Are you sure about that Mine's Ecu, if I’m not mistaken i would say that they are built to what you have, like you tell them what parts you are running and then they work the ecu to fit all that you have, so if you have a used ecu from them then you have someone else’s custom ecu.

well if you tell them you have stock injectors and a stock mafs. Then they will send you an ecu programmed for that set up.

Is there any way to find out what the ECU is programmed for if you pick one up used? Will Mines reporgram them to your specs?

well when I bought mine, the distributor told me what it was programmed for. Though I'm not exactly sure how to get into the ECU and find out what it is programmed for. But if you get a mine's ecu set up that isn't the same for your car, you can send it to mine's for it to be reprogrammed. But thats just going to be a PITA. I suggest finding an ECU that is made for the setup you have.

They don't have any US distributor/presence as far as I know, but I imagine that if you were to send it back, they could reprogram. I'm sure it would cost an arm and a leg though, nothing Mine's is cheap.

Mine's has a "Boost Up" tune, OEM tune, and a T28 program for the SR engines.

The OEM tune removes limiters, and I think optimizes fuel and timing curves for factory boost pressure.

The "Boost Up" tune removes limiters, optimizes fuel and timing curves for a 98 RON fuel (94 US octane) car running 1.0 bar of boost pressure.

The T28 setup is for 550's or 480's, and a S14/15 T28. I believe they have a program that's adapted for the GTiR T28 as well.

Mines has a serial number on every ECU that you can use to identify whats on the ECU with Mines. If you can't speak Japanese then feel free to call the UK distributer for Mines and talk to them (ProSpec - Talk to Shin)

Mines Web Page http://www.mines-wave.com/

I dropped them an e-mail today--after ProSpec said they cannot reveal any info on what is in the ECU--but that they could help with selling a new one!

Previous owner states he thinks it is just the Boost upgrade ( Thank you Nismo Freak)

i believe almost all of them are boost up ecu's

good info in previous post. i had a blitz access in my old 240 and the throttle response on it was amazing. as soon as you shift it would break tires loose because the power was just sitting there waiting for you.

i just ordered a mines ecu ($180/shipped :) ) --- whats your serial #? we can compare. mine should be here by the end of the week.

im glad to see that you have success with the quick spooling. i think thats they one thing my car is currently missing, as full boost doesn't arrive until about 4k.
