my head needs to be milled i have a ka24e and it needs to be shaved 14 thousands can i do that without it hitting the pistons? the guy at the machine shop said it might hit the pistons, but then i remeberd that even if the timing chain breaks it will never hit the pistons right?

i believe it tells in the FSM how far can you take a head before it gets bad, you can still use a thicker gasket(depending on how warped the head is).

also the ka is an interference engine.(set timing wrong, bent valves will happen)

FSM states standard disortion is 0.0012in, limit(surface shaving) is 0.004in

if your mechanic does shave it(which looks to be safe limit, wouldn't shave it again if something happens, this is knowing that the block hasn't been milled too, as that changes the limit), if you want to be on the safe side though, buy a thicker headgasket.

also when the engine is fully assembled, rotate it a couple of itmes to be sure the valves aren't hitting the pistons.
