Military Video leaks...

im curious how these clips of attacks get released on the net of small stealth attacks the US does from the skies. I have seen 3 videos of attacks, they are so quick it seems like a video game, yet you are really watching people die. im curious if anyone knows why or how these are released.. i doubt the goverment would just release these videos without some editing, the one i link you is quite graphic for the goverment just to publicate.

ps. i am sorry for those who do not like what i am linking to, i am just curious on how they leak, i only posted the link for those who are interested in seeing what i am talking about.

nothing is cool about these movies, people are dying, thats nothing to laugh or joke about. please be mature when posting replys or other links. thank you.

I agree with what they did, it was an unenviable job that most people wouldn't want to do and they still had the tenactity to do it. I personally didn't think they made it sound like a video game either, they were confirming targets and making sure they were down, the night vision doesn't show possible weapons the guys on the ground had anyway...

oh well, this is gonna be gone before the night is over anyway.

The thing that amazes me the most about what takes place in the video is how methodical they are with taking the people out. From what I can tell, the tape shows a three person crew, manning an anti-aircraft gun (that thing on the left).

You see them take out the most senior guy in the position first, then switch to the guy manning the gun, then they take out the support personnel / trucks. It's kind of interesting how they work their way down the chain of command, even for something as simple as taking out an AA gun.

I am not asking for a political thread, and i didntknow it was posted before, my friend shown me it.

I am not asking for peoples opinions becuase this thread wasnt ment to start anything between people, thats why i dont want the opinions, what i was asking is how this clips get leaked, if you dont know, then dont post, its simple. there is no reason this thread should get out of hand, be mature about it, and answer the one question that was asked, no need to wonder off. if the mods feel reason to lock this or remove it then fine, but i wouldnt mind knowing what i asked from the start

well, all military vehicles have onboard recording equipment, I'm betting some lame *** reporter paid for it to make some story about the way they're carrying on...

that's probably a pretty old tape too though, maybe from Desert Storm or Somolia or one of the other military encounters, couldn't tell you for sure but that's my guess

The last thread was locked and the url removed because the administrators didn't want to pollute NICO with videos of people getting killed...

you know what guys, **** it. seriously, i just wanted one thing answered. WHY THEY ARE LEAKED>.. i left an warning to not watch if it you dont want to see it. i explained it can be disturbing. why cant we just answer that one question? ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS HOW THEY ARE LEAKED not that a different thread was locked.. i dont mean to be rude, but you guys are not helping, its very simple. dont post if you dont know, that should be a rule with all threads... Mods, please close this thread and delete it from database, i will bring the question else where.

actually my friend, i know of a few people who here who were in the forces and know this kind of stuff, also alot of people here know a few things, yeah this is a car forum but also they are damn bright people.

Well , for starters, one reason could be that it wasn't intended to be leaked.

Secondly, if the leak was intentional, it shows what we are capable of, and its rather scary (think if you were running around on the ground)

thanks milo, but thats my question, if it wasnt intended to be leaked, how could it have been i would think our goverment would not use movie file extentions viewable by the public? (Avi etc etc)

I'm pretty sure the movie file extention in the apache isnt .avi :P

somebody could have easily taken the video and decoded it as an avi or mpeg.. or whatever

all it takes is some equipment and software

So much of our technology STARTS with a military application.

It's not a matter of "leaks", so much stuff is released for public consumption, training purposes, review by civilian and military review boards - It's impossible to keep everything "top secret" any more.

look at what radar and sonar have done for us!

I'm still betting some lame *** in the media got the tape, that's how it usually happens.

I don't really see any activity that would embarass our military in that video anyway personally though...

Some videos are shown to us Troops for teaching purposes, I have lots of footage because part of m job is to test the seeker part of the missiles or bombs. Things like this arent leaked, they are shown around without care, theres nothing secret or classified about them.

They get leaked because the gov't wants them leaked. It's called PR (public relations). It gets people talking about the military which is like getting ratings in the TV world. Wars need viewers or it's just sparring.
