we need more info than that. What year is the car? What condition does it look like..it can be a 90 with 180,000 miles thats been well maintained and kept, or it could be a 97 with 80,000 miles and had the crap beat out of it.

When I found mine it had 143,000 miles on it and idled funny. After a good tune up (plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, filters/fluids, etc) it was running great and hasn't gave me any real problems since (besides the radiator blowing last summer and the automatic going out last winter, but I guess thats to be expected after nearly 150k).

There is a good writeup at http://www.z31.com about what to look for when buying a car. A lot there just talks about what to look for in a z31 specifically, but a good bit applies to all cars. Take a look at that, I think the link is on the home page, it says Buying a Z31 or something like that.

Carfax is a great idea too. About a year after buying mine I ran carfax and found out a lot that I wish I would have known. Mine was in three front end collisions in the late 90's, but I guess they did a good job fixing everything because the only problem up there is excessive negative camber on the passenger side that eats tread off my tires.

I got a '90 fastback...bought it like 2 months ago with 150,000 miles. Wasnt in the best condition but it still ran great. Did a tune up right when I got it. The coolant was brown as hell and also, thhe engine oil was dark x2. I haven't cheked the trans. fluid yet. Also my car had wrapped brake rotors. So I had to replace that too. Dont expect a perfect s13. Their pretty old cars...something will always break, etc. when you go look at one take it for a test drive and inspect everything.

please don't total it if you buy it. that's my piece of advice. be careful with it (seriously) and don't smash apart a 240sx to learn the true value of a car (and insurance)... like i see many others on the forums do unfortunately..

thats not exactly true. I had a 95 525 bimma for my first car and did fine. The most important thing is to not drive it like an @ss. Save the track driving for the track. And if decide that maybe you don't want to live to see social security checks comin your way (probably won't even have ss by then), plz be decent enough to buy an s13 and not a s14 j/k.

It all really depends on how well taken care of it was. Mileage is nothing but a number. I tend to purchase my cars from either large dealerships or enthusiasts like myself they are the ones who most likely know how to take care of a car(although dealerships don't always know). I avoid old people as I doubt they know what kind of oil is in the car let alone know when to change it. Just make sure you chack the car thoroughly before you make a decision. you can tell a lot about a car just by looking at it.

240's are cheap (price-wise) And I love that South Park... sexual harassment panda!

Mine is at about 118k and still running strong. Then again, I got a new KA about 4k miles ago since the previous owner blew the engine.
