2008 Rogue SL AWD bought new, 11/2007. Current odometer reading, ~96,200 miles. Biggest mechanical issue so far: AC compressor failure @ 94,800 miles (July, 2014). Everything else has been routine maintenance (Brakes, Oil, Tires, Coolant, drive train fluids, etc.)

2008 Rogue FWD SL, bought new April, 2008. CVT replaced shortly after new, since then the vehicle has been solid, no major mechanical failures but some smaller issues including pre-catalytic converter failure, and intermediate steering shaft worn and replaced. 60,000 miles, original brakes still going, very low maintenance costs, overall a solid average to slightly above average ownership experience.

Love my Rogue.I have a 2008 SL AWD. Bought 11/2007. She has on it 212,000 mi. I had the CVT changed at 98,000 mi under warranty. Other problems a/c compress seized at 140,000. And I have had a running problem with the fuel gauge. Looking to replace it with one from a 2012. Other than the regular, brakes, tires, and CVT fluid.

And I have had a running problem with the fuel gauge. Looking to replace it with one from a 2012. Other than the regular, brakes, tires, and CVT fluid.

This is encouraging - thanks for sharing this. When they do a CVT swap do they replace it with a 2nd generation unit?

CVT failed June 2014 with 108K on the clock, replaced under warranty.

CV boot failed Aug 2014, replaced Seprentine belt in July 2014.

Replaced rear brake pads July 2014, worn completely away.
I'm guessing fronts were done before I bought the vehicle, still
lots of meat there.
Power locks come and go intermittently.

reading about a/c compressors failure scares me a little bit.

I'm on my first Rogue and relatively new to the forum, but it looks like the A/C compressor failures have been primarily the magnetic clutch. Doesn't appear to be too expensive and I've seen several posts that it was a DIY job.

At 32k I just had a transmission seal replaced under warranty. It required the transmission to be completely drained and refilled, so it saved me $400 because I didn't have to pay for it at the 30k service.

When I was under the car changing oil I noticed a little oil on the rear motor mount. Had the dealer service check and they replaced the seal. Just an FYI for you guys - something you might want to check. It's expensive to do out of warranty.
