I recently purchased a new Sony 45x4 head unit and four speakers for my 1994 Altima. (Yes, this thing still had the factory setup in it, 35W max. Clarions and all.)

Anyway, I didn't feel like wasting money on a harness when I already had the wiring diagrams for both the car and the stereo. The issue that I have run into is that when I completely power off the car, the stereo loses all power, and so the clock and all presets reset to default. I am completely positive that my power wiring is correct (red to red, yellow to blue) and basically I am wondering if I may be able to splice power from somewhere, or do I need to run a wire directly from the battery to the unit? (It already has a fuse installed btw, but if I directwire, I will probably install another inline anyway.)

That's your problem. Yellow wire on the deck goes to red on the car, red on the deck goes to blue. Switch them around and you'll be all set.
