well, dont hate because there is no pics, im sure u can all imagine a grey 1991 s13 with lowering springs. so my goals are to switch to e-85 and have close to 180-190 horses with just bolt-ons , but since my headgasket is going ive decided 2 upgrade. found a head straight from the machine shop, oversized valves, retainers, stainless springs and all its ported also.i got stage 3 cams with it also. if you guys could fill in the blanks on what i will need or will not need im just not sure what will be nessacary. and as far as the bottom end goes.. just piston rings, every seal, freeze plug, gaskets, bearing, pump, etc will be replaced as part of rebuild.

msd blaster ingnition
underdrive pulley
remove butterfly valve in intake mani
short-ram/cold air intake
headers-recomendations plz
(already have 2.25 exhaust straight 2 magnaflow)(no cat)
sr 370cc injectors
upgraded fuel pump( input plz i dont know what i need)
300z fuel filter(already have)
q45/300zx maf

if i am missing anything or if u have any suggestions as far aswhat i should use plz i am all ears

^^^Seriously.

I read your power goals and thought to myself "HA! N/A?! No way in hell!" Until I read the E85 part. I suppose its possible. I've heard of ppl getting to ~185whp on an N/A KA, but to get there included all the stuff you're doing (minus the E85) plus SOHC pistons and ITB's. Quite a bit of work.

You should also consider the benefit of reducing drivetrain loss as well. It might help alot to switch to Altima electric fans, a good clutch w/light weight flywheel, aluminum driveshaft, 4.636 final drive ratio and some relatively light weight wheels with wide tires.

I should also add: Your thread title says "Mild HP goals." But, there is nothing mild about trying to hit 185whp+ with an N/A KA. For the effort and money spent, you could put together a very discreet KA-T package if you're not an SR fan...

hahaha!

Seriously though, the only naturally aspirated motor that's probably worth a damn is an LSx. Even then, for the money you spend going all motor ka you can get a decent turbo set up with a lot more head room for the future.

Blah blah turbo blah.
Some people just don't want a turbo- let it go already.
As for header- I'd recommend the DC Sports. I think its a better design than the Hotshot/OBX. Walbro fuel pump is the norm for upgrade. I'd recommend a 2.5" exhaust, but since you've already got your exhaust, leave it and wait until it needs replacing.
eveything else is looking pretty good on your list, but you will definitely want something to really tune with. The stock ECU won't do you any favors with what you're planning.
Good luck.

regardless of whether you go turbo or not, you'll still need a good tune, and i'd suggest a wideband o2

Yea im with them, on this one... if your gonna spend the money... you mays well just build up that KA and turbo it with like a T25 and SR injectors... i still think you should tune it with E85, but if your going to spend the money, you mays well turbo it and make more power!

I agree, while it may be easier to build a turbo motor with the same or more power some people just prefer the feel and characteristics of a N/A motor. It's his car and money, its not a waste if he's happy with the results. He wasn't asking what type of motor to build just suggestions that aid in the motor he's already decided to build

One thing I encourage ppl to do before finalizing build plans for a 240sx is to go test drive a car rated at or around 300hp first. I'm talking like BMW 135i, STI/Evo, hell, even a Mazdaspeed 3. I don't think it's possible to stay happy with a N/A KA for long at all once you realize you could have peformance that exceeds those cars for less than you're spending to stay N/A.

And N/A KA might be peppy over short distances, but unless we're talking about fully built Robello race KA motors, it'll will never be considered "fast" as long as it's in a 2600 to 2800 lbs car like the 240. Might be worth it if we were talking about Datsun 510 or something lighter...

Good point ^^^^^
Hell the sonata is faster than a n/a ka 240 and it weighs in at a little over 4000 pounds @240ish horses

i agree with simmode... he brought up a great point

why spend that kind of money on a build oriented around performance... and at the end of the day, still get your a** handed to you by a mustang GT?...

If your bottom end is fine, I'd strongly recommend going with SR injectors, t25(or t28), sr sidemount, and everything you need for tuning. With that you'd be much happier and will come out on top financially and come out with more power(there's a guy with the t25 running right at 7lbs making 208hp to the wheels). Just my $.02. There's a reason most people don't bother with keeping the KA N/A

Plus using such a small turbo like a t25 on a ka, there will be virtually no lag. So it'll "feel" just as good an a naturally aspirated motor and easily provide your power goals.
