I might be able to get a newer car soon and am considering a 350Z. Any major problems with these cars. Do bolt on modifications really make a difference in power with these? I would be coming from a 97 Cobra with bolt ons so I don't want to be lacking power.

Don't get it!!!Nah, just playing... The Z is great...Slippery when wet though. Attracts a lot of attention too... which is good, but pretty bad too.. i hear about clutch and transmission problems... but I think that's mostly to driver error..

I'm used to traction issues so not a problem there. How is the traction controll system in the rain? Will I spin my tires in third like now?

I've driven an 05 S2000, an 05G35c, and an 04 350z, all 6mt, back to back to back in the rain. Honestly I think the Z did better than even the G. The s2k was almost scary in the rain due to the perfect 50/50 weight distribution. The Z was very mild-mannered, although it WILL slide if you don't respect it. The G wanted to fishtail a little more going around corners at partial throttle, probably because of it's extra weight.

keep in mind wth the Z you'll have roughly 25% less motor and I believe the curb weights are pretty similar, the Z isn't as responsive to bolt ons as the cobra as Nissan actually did a pretty good job getting 300 hp ouut of 3.5 liters, while the cobra makes a similar amount of power with all that extra displacement, so in theory if the cobra engine were as efficient as the Z engine it would make 400 hp, so maybe with the right combination of bolt ons you can free up a lto fo horsepower, the Z comes pretty well tuned from the factory, intake, exhaust, and whatever else you can dream up I think the most power I've seen an N/A pick up on bolts ons was about 20 whp

Traction Control button works well, allows for good grip with the 10" wide tires in the back. I turn it off all the time cause I like tearing the tires up, but in rain I put it on cause you will spin the tires at every stop. The Grand Touring came with the Vehicle Dynamic Control and Traction Control Options Good luck

And pass evildky some corn he makes a good point.

The only problems I've heard of is the 03's have window problems ( Limits need to be reset) and alignment issues which casue the tires to wear unevenly. I've heard that sometimes people have clutch problems, but it was mainly in the 07's. It's a great car just keep the maintainence up to date and you shouldn't have any problems.

You will miss the torque of the Stang and that v8 sound but in trade you will have a much better fit and finish ride along with RELIABILITY! Also you wont see one every block like you do with the Stang. I traded my 06 Stang GT with mods that was a total rattle bucket and other problems for a new Z, and glad now that I did so. And its a true sports car with NO useless back seat. Test drive one and give it some thought.
