1.) Don't know. Not a problem unless you like driving with the door open.

2.) Buy a four cylinder car.

3.) Yes, if restored to as new OEM specifications. Get the Infiniti dealer performed service history and have an Infiniti Senior technician inspect it.

Read the article how to buy a Q45 in the Articles Forum.

I'm baffled. Why would you remove the beep? Its rather calm, unlike the obnoxious one in the Ford Expedition I drove.

As a general rule if you bring up MPG's in a thread inquiring about buying a Q45 (or any big V8 sedan) it'll be suggested this isn't the right thing to do.

Don't expect to see anything better than upper teens except on some long (speed controlled/limited) raod trips.

G50 and good gas mileage will not go hand in hand. But that is based on your perception. To get good gas mileage in todays terms you need to have it running 100%. Most don't do this because they can't afford parts and labor to get a G50 running that good. Even at 100% you still will not pass 17 or 18 mpg city driving.

As far as the beep just rip out the speaker that is in the dash. Or take the key out...

Anything is possible if you're that determined.

The mileage rating for a brand new 1994 Q45 is 17 MPG (city) and 22 MPG (highway). Considering it's a used vehicle expect less. I'm not sure what kind of mileage you are aiming to achieve.

Reliability in my experience has proven to be quite well, but again it's a used car and service is essential and can be costly if you're not a do-it-yourselfer or if you are at the mercy of the dealer. I believe every used car requires some work. Personally speaking, if it wasn't for people like Wes and the others and this forum, I would have given up on my car the first week after I bought it, but now I love it, although it's cost me a small fortune and still requires the attention of my wallet.

As the diff gear mesh wears and the engine ring tension decreases OFTEN there is a period from 60-100-200k where the Highway MPG might actually improve a little. Just as the performance can get better until compression starts falling significantly.

Also modern tires have reduced friction to increase life obviously the oem tire 160-200 treadwear had more drag than 400 tires.........so many variables.

I consistently got 18-19 avg in my '91, and I did NOT drive it easy whatsoever. Lotsa stop and go, a couple good romps per day, and it still turned in numbers like that. All things considered, pretty amazing.

On the gas mileage note i was really wondering if one of those tornado things worked or if there was some way like a tuned safc to get it a little higher not really looking to get 30 mpg out of the beast maybe 20ish

On highway trips you could get 22-24, but you're never gonna see that kind of mileage in city driving.

As mentioned before if "good" mileage is something you're after a Q45 should not be on your list.

Indeed, for city driving you will be thanking [insert diety] if you get over 18mpg with over 50% city driving..

And let's not forget it's premium gas. It'll run on regular, but that extra kick in the pants is worth everry dime.

Seriously, I totaled my first 94 at 160,000 miles, actually got a good insurance settlement, and bought a second 94 within two weeks. They're that good, and I'm an old guy with a good job who can afford to pay cash for a new one. Why?
