this is the one:

from what i have experienced that looks like a lot of cost and work for just 138k miles, but maybe thats just how the Z is. i saw a post saying the VG is "bulletproof", but id like to make sure before i buy it. couldnt hurt right? does it look like hes done all the maintenance that will have to be done for awhile? i have a feeling there will be a few more things shortly.

he is the second owner, he bought it at 62k miles. np with the turbos from 62k-138k. i doubt there were problems with them before 62k. yes it has hicas. i dont know how tight the rear is. no work has been done on the rear, and ive yet to drive it to find out. he wants 8k firm.

8k is fine, but here are some things you will be looking forward to.

1) Turbos will die soon, at around 100k mileage the stock turbos will start its journey to death. ($2000+ for a stock set) better off going with upgraded turbos (JWT Sport 500s ~$1700) + labor to install.

2) A/C will need retrofit, unless you do the Freeze12 stuff or R134A retrofit, or stick with R12 Coolant ($hundreds per pound)

3) More than likely you will mod the Z to stage 3, the most common stage. Plan on spending ~$2000 or so to get to stage 3.

4) The stock spoiler will most likely fall apart sooner or later, I think its foam and starts to rust from underneath where it is attached to the hatch.

5) Antenna is optional since you will be getting rid of the Bose system. There are 2 antenna's in the Z, the most obvious one that goes up and down and the defroster lines on the hatch window. The Bose system switches between the 2 for the best signal possible. Aftermarket units can use both with a simple mod. More than likely the Bose speakers will blow ... soon.

6) Check for signs of safety boost, if the car only boosts to 7PSI it needs some maintainence (detonation sensor, or a host of other things) Det. sensor - $600-$1000 in parts/labor.

Thats all I can think about for now, $8k for this car is very good considering I see no signs of abuse. I would test drive it to make sure it boosts to +14 on the stock gauge.

Stock boost is 9psi. It won't hit 14psi without either boost jets or a boost controller of some sort.

Also, stock turbos can be purchased for $11-1400 new if you look around. The labor to replace them is quite pricey though if you don't plan on doing the work yourself.

The stock urethane foam spoiler on 90-93 TTZs starts to deteriorate away, not rust. It eventually becomes weak and will cause the paint to start cracking and flaking.

The motors can witchstand a lot of power if they are properly maintained, but once you start getting so many miles on them, things are destined to start breaking (and that's not specific to a TTZ). All in all, it still sounds like a decent deal for $8k.

1) Not 14PSI (+14 on stock gauge, inaccurate yes I know)

2) New stockers + install = $$$

3) The attaching bolts/nuts/screws rust not necessarily the spoiler itself. (mine did, so did a spoiler on a 240 I saw in the junkyard)

FC's are nice, just beware of engine fires and you'll need a rebuild every 80,000 miles or so.

New B13 rotary engines are getting cheaper day by day.
