As I stated in the technical forum, I may be needing a new car soon. Obviously, it has to be another Maxima. I want to go with a fourth gen for a couple of reasons. First, it will still be possible to find mid-low milage on a fourth gen, unlike the third gen (which is half the problem with mine). Second, the fourth gen has a VQ30DE, which is a massive upgrade from my current VG30E.

My question is, what kind of pricing can I expect on a fourth gen (I don't care which year, whatever is cheap) with a five speed? I could not care less about extras. I've got a nice Pioneer head unit I'll be putting in it from my current car as far as CD. Basically, I need a good condition five speed A32 with reasonably low miles (i.e. as low as I can afford ). That's it.

How does this look? Too cheap? I notice it has aftermarket wheels, that may mean it has a more caring owner...

Also, I found this one. This seems like a good price, but I need to know if it sounds "too good" as in maybe there is something funny going on. But a '95 with under 100k on the odo is a good buy.

Thanks yet again guys!

EDIT: I just realized...neither of those is a five speed. I guess I may have to settle for an auto. Of course, it may be a month or so before I can buy it, so who knows what will be available then...

I would say you'd be in the neighborhood of $4000 - $6500+ for a 4th gen 5 speed...depending on mileage. One thing to keep in mind if you are planning upgrades, don't get a `99. The ECU is different from the 97-98. Here is an example of one in yesterday's newspaper. http://www.cars.com/go/search/...rjrnl

Thanks for the info. That price range sonds good. I'm temped to go for a Z32...but any Z32 I can find for $6k won't be in very good shape. But mostly I just really want a Maxima. If only I could find a 2001 for incredibly cheap...

I've seen a used 97 with 110k miles on it sell for about 3500 dollars. Maybe you can gimme hm down a little more. The interior was emaculate but the exterior did have a scratch on it that was deep and rusted a bit. That's about it. The clutch cylinoid was broke but they replaced that. It ran good and sounded good.

Alright...I've made what I hope will be a final decision. I just need to work out the kinks. I'm going to start putting some money away so I can buy a new (really new, not used but new for me) car about a year from now. I'm thinking either 350Z, '03 or '04 Maxima, or (more for variety and as a non-nissan option, but also for its rear-wheel-drive) a Cadillac CTS. I'm hoping to go for the Z, but I need to know some things about both nissans before I decide which. Mind you, I have a year to decide, but I need to know things like insurance rates, how well they hold their value, how much a year old one will cost (still new) off the lot (I figure I can pick up a 2002-2004 model of the lot new for cheaper than an '05). Also, I need to know what the differences are between years. I realize not too many people have the 2004 Max, and I don't know anyone with an '05, but you guys are full of this kind of knowledge. And I am doing my own research on the side, but generally NICO information is more reliable that most other web-sources. I'm going to post a similar message in the Z forum...Maybe I should just have done the VQ forum, as all of us go there...oh well, we'll see how this works.

I'm hoping to be cruising around next October or November in a shiny, new, black Z33 or Maxima.

As always, thanks for any input.

Wow...what's the milage. I'd expect to pay at least 4k for a 95. Too bad I'm in Utah, halfway across the continent. People around here always want WAY to much for their cars. (like the 1992 Nissan pickup with nothing--not even power steering--that the guy wanted $4200 for!)The only problem is, my dad and I have just pumped about 1200 into the one I've got right now, so I really want to get as much out of it as I can, so I don't want to buy anything right now.
