ok so i guess that these Turbo ZY turbochargers are garbage.. BLAH BLAH BLAH...

so here is my question.. If my turbo housing is still goood. Can i buy a turbo rebuild kit buy a reputable company such as garrett or precision( anthonhy?) and rebuild my turbo to be as good as a rebuilt garret or precision turbo? I mean change the shafts, the wheels and the bearings, but keep the housing. Im just tryiong to make the best out of my situation, which is i get a good deal on something, to find out i got screwed.. SHoulda waited for namebrand, but i couldn't pass up the deal...

Honestly, I'd just get a new turbo. There's nothing wrong with yours, per se, right? If it's not bad as far as you know, just sell it on Ebay "as is". Flip it for some $$$ and get a garrett. You can get a shiny new Garrett T3/TO4E for a little over $600.

Don't skimp on the snail!

thats true,, as far as i know it works fine, but i dont like screwin people when i come to cars. I hate it when peolple do it to me, and i cnat turn around and do it back to someone else either. AS far as i know, it ran for 5000 miles with no problems. I have no reason to believe other wise. i'll see if i can take some pics.

keep it and tear it apart for the experience. I have the same garbage 450.00 paper weight that you have and its not even worth selling to someone else.

you cant rebuild it because it needs to be high speed balanced. people can replace seals fine usually, but not wheels and shafts with out a balance. turbos spin around 150,000rpms.

those "shiny new" garrets are actually remanufactured thats why they are so cheap and dont come standard with certain things like a 360 degree thrust bearing.

this is why precision turbos seem more expensive. they are brand new, made in house when you order, come standard with good parts.

a rebuild kit might not work for you because there are so many different housings and wheels out there, and with a company like yz who knows there sizes exactly?

Unless we're talking about different resellers (I don't want to mention names of non-advertisers), I've never heard nor seen anything on their site indicating the Garrett units were remans.

As for the 360 degree thrust bearing, that's true. I swear that used to be one of several available options to add to an order.

Nevertheless, it would probably be a lot better than what he has now.

As for reselling it, I don't see any reason why not. You don't know it's going to fail, there's nothing wrong with it as far as you know, so why not sell it?

ok.. when you say "YOU" cant rebuild it, does that mean that i can't, but a shop can rebuild it?

also, im not sure what size it really is, but what i was told is that it was a 54 trim, with a .63 a/r.. is there a site where i can get the specs using the serial number on it. ?if so serial number is : 03060831-3

and im gonna throw it on ebay for an as is turbo, with a 54 trim .63 a/r t3/t4 t04e turbo. with minimal shaft play
