After I had the airbag recall done, I noticed a rattle in the middle air vents around the nav screen. When you close the vent using the wheel, I noticed a difference in tightness VS the vents on the driver and passenger sides. It seems that the slats that it controls to open/close the air flow is the originator of the rattle. I don't want to have to hassle it back to the dealer, but if it is a difficult, time consuming process, I might need to. Anyone know how to remove the vents to see if its a simple fix?

This *might* be something that can be found in the FSM in the interior section but don't quote me on that. Link in my signature in the FAQ thread.

You can take off the center air registers surrounding the nav screen: gently pry up the Bose center speaker, there should be two screws holding that trim piece in and you can then gently pop it out.
it might be easier to see what all is rattling in that one air register once you have the whole piece out.

I looked into them, and the closest was the replace nav screen, but the photos were gone. Amazing how little there is iconcerning this. Thanks for reply.

That's good to know. Saw some ebay selling them as one whole piece. Almost sure it's the closing vents. Pressure on the left/right and up/down vents did not muffle the sound. Thanks for reply.

I wonder if the dealer caused damage to the vents when replacing the air bag. Either way, the dealer will not likely replace that part because a customer claims it didn't rattle before the repair. You might try getting a new part on Ebay, etc and see if that fixes the issue. You can always get a new part at Infiniti Parts .com for less than the dealer price, but I reckon it will still cost plenty. Someone made a noticeably long black mark on the passenger A-pillar and it was over $200. The dealer wanted $305 plus installation.

I'm trying to find the scenario where they can do this. Is it a full dash removal to replace the air bag? Admittedly, I am waffling between leaving it alone, and having them fix it. The hassle is still not enough to make it move.

Of course, the cruise is not engaging now, which gives a good push to get them to make it right. Ah, my 2010 is starting to show a little age.
