So....

I am planning to get a turbo install in the late spring of 08' on my '06 G35 Coupe. I am looking for an installer in my area(Detroit, MI), I am willing to travel a couple hundred miles if needed. Does anyone have a list of good install garage's? I will also be in the San Louis Obispo area of California through the winter and early spring and may be open to having it done there but I would rather have it done near home.

I appreciate any info.

^ +1 Jeff. Is it possible to get a dyno before and after?

I would love to see that.

Just give us some time and somebody will chime in from that area to help the brother out.

Time I got. I will try to document as much as I can. For now I am just going with a twin set up on a stock motor. Hopefully by the following spring I will also be ready for the new short block and internals to run a bit more boost and be a "real" turbo car. Sure is an expensive damn hobby we have here! Hopefully someone has some good info. for me. Michigan is still a "Domestic" hot rod state and there are not many resources for us import kids as compared to the Chevy/Ford guys.

One thing I do know is that forced induction motors need lower compression ratio pistions. You motor is 10.3 to 1 compression. A good turbo motor is 8.5 to 1 compression.

You could probably do a low boost 4-5PSI turbo on the stock motor without any problems.

You may consider NITROUS OXIDE!!!

Nitrous is very very safe if you use things like a fuel pressure safety switch, RPM window switch and a wide band air fuel meter. You only use it when you 'need' it. Its cheap to install compared to turbo or supercharger.

One of my Hemi Ram buddies has a supercharged Hemi Ram. It puts down 360 RWHP compared to a stock Ram's 250-260 RWHP. Another buddy has a Hemi Ram with a single nitrous kit that puts down 503 RWHP.

The Supercharger is probably never going to ruin the motor where as there is always a chance for a nitrous back fire that will result in a $2000 rebuild.

Heres some pics of my dual stage nitrous kit from my Hemi Ram and yes I sold it when I sold the truck.

Not a big fan of the juice. Had it on cars and on a bike. Can't argue the bang for the buck but I hate having to fill the bottles. I also hate the all on or all off with nitrous, even with a progressive system. Low psi turbo is what I am going to do. It is only the first step, I have many plans for the car.

Whats up kids, nobody has info about the midwest?

Understand that. Just wanted to make sure you knew there are other options for getting more air in the motor.

On the Hemi turbo and SC systems were not huge gains due to fuel managment issues the engine computer is impossible to hack and all the piggyback controllers have unintended side effects since a bunch of things were partially controled by map sensor voltage.

The on off effect is huge even once your already moving but an extra 150 hp is pretty hard to miss! There were a couple guys running 3 kits with progressive controllers that pulse the solenoids before opening them wide. Have the controler time the shots was nice too. A stock Hemi motor is safe up to 200 hp shot with a spark plug change. I've seen forged strokers with a lot more nitrous.

I'm interested to see your gains on a stock motor. I agree with you on the low psi turbo. If you do break something then you can go forged bottom end, lower the compression and turn up the boost!

Have you checked out http://www.alteredatmosphere.com ?

If they can't help you maybe they can point you in the right direction?

Thanks for the link! Looks like a great site, I added it to my favorites.

I do plan to go with all the goodies with the internals and aftermarket block eventually in order to run stupid boost numbers, thats why the nitrous would just be money wasted. If I was not going to do all that I would consider the nitrous. Big hp and low $$$ and thats cool but I love forced air...makes me all warm and fuzzy inside

I've been in AA for the past 3 years, going on 4 now as a student at good ole U of M, and I have yet to hear of a good import tuner in the area. There has to be one somewhere...

I was really hoping for more info. on this thread. I emailed the kids at Altered Atmosphere, looks like they have plenty of experience. I hate the thought of having to take my car to MD for this, extra expense etc. but need to get it done right. If anyone knows of a similar shop closer to Michigan I would still love to hear from ya.
