My 2001 A33 I30 (215/55/16) is getting to the point where it needs new tires soon, and I know there are better options out there than another set of the OEM Goodyear Eagle RS-As. One tire that has particularly interested me is the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. Some friends who drive Mercedes AMG cars swear by them and have told me that they can drive their cars on these tires in the Washington DC area year round. That being said, my concern is that these tires might be overkill for my car. It's not a race car or a sports car, though I do like it to handle as well as possible. I'm just not sure that the potential decline in fuel economy and harsher ride is worth the increase in grip at the limit when compared to something like the Pilot Exalto A/S. Opinions or alternative tires I might want to look at would be greatly appreciated.
