15 pts 4 reb 4 assists6-15 FG3-4 FT

brought his average to exactly 20 pts/gm for the season. First person to do that at age 40.

I watched the ESPN Sportscenter special that was half on MJ after the game. That guy was simply amazing. I loved the top 10 commercials to! Anyone else remember the days of "I wanna be like Mike" and when he and Larry bird had the ultimate game of horse? "Off the second rafter, then the floor, nothing but net" :D

Been a fan since I started playing basketball over 12 years ago. Simply unbelievable. I was fortunate enough to see his final game against the Sonics. The best player ever bar none.:icesangel

No unfortunately he won't. The other times he left he left on a strong you can't stop me type of moment. But now he is just starting to stop himself. Unfortunately even his airness gets old.:(

He should just get fat and play golf. And what, he's only 40 and has millions! Lucky bastard.. He worked hard for his money doing something he loved.

You know what pisses me off??These younger guys around that can't understand how much MJ did for the game of basketball. Nowadays, I could list 10-15 players who can easily match Jordan's stats from back in the day. But in the 80's and early 90's, he was the only one!!! He made the NBA what it is today! All the best players in the NBA today grew up watching him, idolizing him, and trying to be "like Mike".

As far as his phony retirements, you gotta understand how tough it must be to love something so much, to have it be a part of your life, and then have to walk away from it. He's the greatest player of all time, even though we'll never get to see him on the court again.

Theres more behind those retirements....Like Stern making/asking him to retire the first time till the talks about his illegal gamb|ing and gamb|ing on the bulls games died down (which it did when he left, and people mostly forgot that)....Yes he was a great athlete, and did so much for sports in general as far as advertising and spreading the sport around the globe....BUT pete rose was a great athlete, who broke records...and bet on his team too, and has a lot more of a negative connotation around him...so Jordans first retirement was obviously at the right time, and did what it was supposed to do...

He can't do what he could at his prime, and its good to leave on a positive note (missing the playoffs isnt "too" positive though...Being a huge basketball fan, and working in the front office of a proffesional team, im glad to see him leave the court of play, and look forward to see him as a front office executive..i just hope he doesnt try to coach somewhere, he's better off doing something else (his GM skills havent proven to be too good either yet)

Yes, respect him very much...but i feel A LOT of people are in the dark about "who he really was"....the whole thing about how his lawyer says his marraige was arranged as a publicity thing, and he's really not the family man the advertisers made him out to be....you know how they are saying she was payed XX amount of money to stay with him through his career, even though it was known he was with women all over the country....

Im not gonig to get into all the things about him that have been kept from the public eye, but he's not the angel and savoir everyone makes him out to be...he's a normal NBA player lifestyle, with more money, and better people around him to shed him in a positive light, but dont fool yourself to thinking he was this great person who only did good, because its far from the truth...he's a great basketball player and the greatesst ambasssador for sports, but as a human being, he's no better than anyone else.

The reason people 'bash' him is because he didnt make the playoffs...the team has a lot of young players, that didnt get time because he was ont he floor...now if youmake hte playoffs thats fine, but if your going to miss them anyway, its better to get those guys the seasons experience...he held Kwame Brown back this year a lot......he did good for the present time of the wizards, but who knows if he did any good for their future...

I think that MJ really tried to shy away from the limelight this year. It seemed like he was trying to get on with his life while satisfying the demanding needs of his plethora of fans. What he has done for the game is unequalled, but like you said, he is only human and he has his own problems:)

Can you use correct grammar? dang..;)

MJ was able to reach that level of game, because he practiced everyday for 4-5hrs. I think if lebron practices like MJ, he could take his game beyond MJ's.

McGrady's offensive skill, and athletic talent is already past Jodans at the same age...>Jordan however was great because of his desire to be the best, and never wanting to fail....Thats what seperates him from the other great players....There are a bunch of guys in the league with better athletic skills than jordan, ie. mcgrady, bryant, jonathan bender, garnett....but no one has reached his level of competitiveness....Isiah was probrobly the most intense player of his decade, and jordan learned a lot from losing to the pistons early in his career...once he got over that hump, (which was him raising his level of competitiveness) He was on another level in sports...that most athletes never reach.

well when he makes it too the NBA i guess you will find out....b/c i already know that he wont, MJ's physical ability wasnt the only thing that made him so good, it was like how he knew the game was played and the way he seemed to make everyone who played with him good, i dont think anyone will be able to match his level of play as far as mentaly and physicaly is concernedIMO( mainly speaking of his earlier years, not particularly these last 2 years)

Lebron lived in jordans house for two summers, and practiced and took part in his "comeback camps" with players like penny, artest, pippen, carter, etc......jordan said that he was the second best player at those camps behind Penny (penny obviously had some good camps, lol)

Penny was awesome a few years ago... then he got injured. He is a guy loaded with talent and struck down in his prime, so now he is very inconsistent and constantly injured, but you can still see flashes of brilliance in his game from time to time...

As for Jonathan Bender, I'm not so sure about him. I've heard so much and seen so little in terms of playing time and production on the court, but I also know you are talking in terms of his athletic ability. I haven't really seen him in action enough to judge expertly, but I wouldn't say he is as athletic as Jordan was or McGrady and Garnett are today. Then again he is a 7 footer (?) who can knowck down a three and still play like a guard  Sports just don't make sense any more :P

Don't be so sure this is his "last" retirement. After all, this is his third time doing it. He's about to surpass the Who and Cher as the one with the most farewell tours. But even at age 40 and a step slower, the man is still one of the best players in the league. With the Bulls' Jerry Krause now gone, it would not surprise me to see 'da Bulls back up the Brink's truck to Jordan's door and maybe to Pippen too (who's unhappy where he is now) and do it one more time. Could happen.

i'm sorry but so now you are going to call anyone who will rise above an average player a MJ wanna be???

come'on now.. I don't really like Kobe too much either but he has mad skills... I think he even might be better than MJ.. if you look at just the skills

BUT!

MJ is Basketball!! the only thing is for me personally his image is forever tainted because of him re-returns in his career and other misshapps that he went through.. but he will always be remembered as the greatest bball player of all time..

that does not mean anyone else can not be better than him... but he is all that is BBall!!!

Damn, his last game stats is BAD...but again, I guess it's okay for a 40year-old man. 6-15FG? Even Iverson has better percentage than that.

Iverson is 40? how many championships does Iverson have? how many shoe deals? commercials? wheaties boxes? movies? endorsements? Jordan owns the game.
