Hello,

I just bought a miata battery since I installed the FMIC, but it will not fit. I have seen these setups numerous times, am I missing something? Why wont it fit, I would have to do a lot of fabricating to get it even close to fitting. Its a 51-R, those of you who have it installed did it slide right in? It always seems like they just fit perfectly. Any help is appreciated.

51R sounds like the right one, just pulling it from my sub-concious.

Mine, and everyone elses that I'm aware of fell into place. Pictures of your intercooler piping?

Its basically a perfect fit, I'm running a Greddy Spec M and it went in fine. You can see mine right here, no issues

Well WTF I have the same FMIc, the problem is not the intercooler but the length b/w the wheel well and the front of the car (ie the length wise of it), one side drops in all the way and the other half sticks out about 5 inches. Im stumped???

Make sure it isn't sitting on the wiring harness that runs on the fender well side.

My miata battery goes in well. It is a tight fit. Snug, but tight.

lol yea it clears, its just the angle of the camera that makes it look higher than it is.

I wont be able to take a pic for a while since my car is parked at my parents house and I live far from them, wont be there until the weekend. I noticed the wiring harness but its not the culprit, it just seems like the space is just not quite enough, only thing I can think of its not the right battery they gave me. Like you guys said it should just fall in, but it does not even come close.

edit** also do you guys remove the washer fluid neck as well, it seems like its missing in some pics

I did, I was too lazy to remount it elsewhere lol I'll go take the dimensions of the battery right now from mine and post them up so you can check for yourself.

My battery is 7"x5"x8". I'm not COMPLETELY sure but I think I've heard that up to a certain year of the miata, the batteries don't fit in our engine bays, probably made them bigger. I got mine from a 93.

This battery should clear the piping if you're interested.

Thank you so much for your help. Thats the problem right there. Haha, I asked for a '94 thinking it would be alright, guess not. My dimensions were 9"x5"x8", the 2 extra inches is what kept it from fitting in there. I sincerely appreciate the help guys, have a good night!!!! you guys rock.

Problem solved... It was the wrong battery, went right to the dealership and got the RIGHT one. Slides right in. Is 360cCA going to be enough for our cars (I have two 12" in the back, but its not like I pound them or anything) Thanks a lot though.
