I own a 1997 D21 XE, and for the most part it has run well minus replacing a few original parts on it that have gone bad.

The other day driving home on dirt road hit a few bumps, heard a pop from a fuse, and all my dashboard gauges went unresponsive. Checked out the fuse box and it is the number 11 fuse, the meter fuse. Goes to all kinds of various things such as back-up light, and speed sensor.

Speed sensor has been giving me a code lately for at least the past 6 months fyi. Every once in a while the speedo will stop working, a few smacks on the dash would get it working, or a few bumps, but I tend to avoid smacking it.

So it is either a short somewhere, or perhaps it is something else? What would be my first move to fixing this issue?

Also I just barely tried another fuse, it didn't blow and all my gauges were working. I shut it off then tried again and the fuse blew.

Update: Managed to find and locate an exposed wire next to the VSS. The wire was rubbing on a piece of metal meant to hold it in place. Upon further inspection I saw the exposed wires and wrapped them up, gauges are working great now.
