i think galvanizing is just a coating... if you grind the metal and it changes color then you know you have removed the galvanization... it also depends on where the welding will be... what kind of welder are you using 110 or 220? what wire? and gas or gasless welding wire?

im not an experienced welder but i have done some... and i know that removing the galvanization will create better penetration and a better weld

hope this helps

good luck

We'll be using a 3 phase 220 tig welder.

Most cars just use undercoat/paint to stave off rust, I don't see how the 240 would be any different. Either way, some grinding is needed before welding :D

it sounds like you know nothing about welding let alone tig welding. when ever tig welding you have to have super clean metal to weld on. your best bet would be a mig welder for any body panels. and galvanized is just a coating. you can mig through it but wear a respirator. the fumes can make you sick. if that happens drink milk. best bet is to always grind and clean what you are about to weld. good luck!

Thanks for assuming I know jack **** about welding. I just wanted to know if there was galvanized metal. I'll make it more clear next time when I just want to know about one specific thing.
