Hi I just bought a 2002 pathfinder with 89k miles on it, the lower oil pan was rusted so I bought another and when I replaced it there was a decent amount of metal shavings in the bottom of the pan, there was also what looked to be needles from a needle bearing in it. I cut open the old oil filter and it was completely clear so I don't know how long those shavings have been there. Is this an issue? And how should I correct it.

All you can do is change the oil and assume this was damage done a long time ago. If it runs well and you have good compression all around, and no main bearing or rod knocks evident then it would seem you're OK. Other than that there's nothing you can do about internal wear that has already happened.

Might be leftover bits from the power valve screws??
Just a hunch, but you may want to take the time to check them. You won't know if the previous owner had issues or checked for loose screws.
Do a search on this forum for power valve screws, and you'll get all the info you need.
