I think you'd prolly have to ask around, I'd suggest e-mailing some shops, cause I'll I've seen is the 1.2 and 1.8, and 1.6 MM Chris

i don't think so. there were no melt spots on the deck. appeared to have a clean surface, and i don't really want higher compression.

yeah, what is stock thickness?shaun

I believe the stock thickness is 0.8. Which you can buy at 24sxmotoring.com

I thought I saw, in the faq maybe? the stock (crushed) head gasket thickness was 1.1mm

keep in mind there are going to be sr20de gaskets out there and they will be thinner, also fwd will not work, unless its a cosworth

Stock HG thickness for the DET is 1.1mm.. The DE is under 1mm be it .8mm or .65mm, not sure exactly for them...

No offense but I think you're being too critical about maintaining the stock compression and for the wrong reasons.

Losing a very small amount of compression with a thicker head gasket won't be noticeable, nor will gaining an even smaller amount from having the cylinder head milled.

The concern with running a thicker head gasket is that camshaft timing may be effected by a few degrees, which is one of the reasons why adjustable cam sprockets exist. The purpose of getting the cylinder head milled is to make sure it's completely flat so the head gasket seals symmetrically when the head is torqued down. Not to clean it or fix 'melt spots'.

should you attempt to get a head gasket thickness that compensates for the amount of material removed in the decking process to avoid any timing issues?
