metal headgasket question

i was looking into metal headgaskets and noticed that there are different sizes. which is the stock size for a s13 sr? wats the point of getting aftermarket studs like arp's.?

1.1 is the stock size for det's I believe. Raising the thickness of the gasket is going to lower your compression. The point of aftermarket headstuds is that they're stronger, help prevent headlift, and also gives more consistent and accurate torque loading.

You are correct, it is 1.1mm.

so if it says that the gasket is 1.2 or something like that its actually to lower compression? i thought it was the size of the bore sorry im a dumby. u guys know the stock bore? i just want to throw in a stronger headgasket on my stock head any suggestions?

Yes, compression would be lowered slightly.

The best aftermarket drop in metal head gasket is the apexi. It's like having your block o-ringed.

Myself and many others run a cometic metal head gasket (which I've heard is a rip off of the Greddy) which is the cheapest HG afaik. Many high hp SR's use that gasket w/ no problems.

Bore is 86mm (as is stroke, FYI).

im with him i have a cometic and have no problems with it so far
