Initial problem: S13 overheatingDiagnosis by block test: bad head gasketSolution: I replaced that SOBResult: Car would not fireNew problem: Water in cylinders

Doesn't make sense to me, water probably never even got a chance to circulate though the head since the car would not start. The head didn't appear to have any cracks and was not warped. I thought I covered all the bases, torquing, sealant... What do you guys think happend? I'm probably just going to swap out the damn engine now, I'd kill myself if I tore it done again and wasn't able to get it right.

when you reinstalled the head, did you tighten the head bolts in the correct pattern? Failure to do so could result in the head gasket not sealing well. coolant could have leaked from one of the water channels through the head gasket into the cylinders. Do a compression test, if two adjacent cylinders are low on compression, it's a signifigant sign that the head gasket is bad.

You don't have to even run the engine to get coolant to the head, the way the upper radiator hose and inlet are situated, you will most definitely fill the head with coolant.
