My coils packs have been recently departing, so i grabbed another set, and for some reason, thought of buying a spare coilpack harness, and swap them over at the same time.. i dunno, just had this gut feeling about it..

and this is what i just found out after starting to pull the old ones apart from boredom

the coilpack plug had melted and shorted out, causing the coilpack to melt inside and short out too..

Yeah done all that, it was from a **** up, i actually trusted a mechanic to do something, this is payback for that.

when i bought new coilpacks i bought a new harness lead too, so it's completely fine now.

What? How? Did he mess with the wiring? If everything was left alone, i dont see how this could've of happened. Unless the coils had some kind of crazy resistance and caused this?! How is the ignition module? Did you check to see if that was ok too? What about the wiring from the ignition module back to the relay, then battery?

Good to hear you got things sorted out though!

All he said was he went to remove my stock ecu to do the ecu check.. uh huh.

Emanage is a piggyback ,so i wonder if he somehow shorted something that way.

Ignition module is fine, i checked that too, been driving it for the last 4 days, and it's beuatiful. I don't think after this i will ever trust a mechanic again.. i have on;y taken the car to the mechanics twice, once was for the timing belt, and they managed to completely screw the timing up on that one, by being 4 degrees advanced, and now this.

Thank god theres some people with good knowledge around on this motor to give me some quick ideas on what to change. just go out and do it !
