however the hell u spell that store hehe... anyways i dunno if anyone of you went to their site but they say that they do custom performance job for exhaust systems now. Since that i need a new exhaust i was wondering what you guys think about that? I'll prob stop by one day to check it out in person but due to work the timing is kinda hard... anyone looked into it before? i was thinking of having them make me a 2.5 inch pipe with some kind of exhuast... i dont they wont remove the cat for me tho, but that will be done later.

Hmm, a muffler chain jumping on the bandwagon huh? could be a good thing as long as they are mandrel bending their pipes, but then they may know that stupid kids will pay outrageous prices for those MaD TyTe fart cans.

I heard of a solution for removing the cat is to clear the screens inside and pound a straight piece of pipe only slightly smaller thru. that way you still look like you have the cat on there.

Aries can you tell me the difference between crush and mandrel? and how much did they charge you for a custom job? can you tell them to make the exhaust for you any way you want? as long its possible?

I'm not aries, but a crush bent pipe is, like it says, crushed at the bends. not too much, but it is a smaller diameter at the bends, and leads to turbulence and unhealthy amounts of backpressure.

mandrel bent, on the other hand, keeps the same diameter throughout the bend. costs more, but keeps the exhaust gasses flowing smoother.

depends on what muffler you get..... the neineki by me supplies Flowmasters, generic brand and big chrome pieces of crap. its cheap for the normal ones, and more expensive for the better flowmasters.

I don't know if you have a Muffler Works around you, but that is where I got my exhaust done and I was extremely pleased with the results.

I was NOT happy at all with the input I got from Midas when I took my car there to get looked at for exhaust, so I can't help but think Meineki would be similar. Not sure though, you may just have to find time to take it by and let 'em take a gander.

meineki charged me 140 just to replave my resonator, but the main charge in that was the part, only $22 for the labor, which sounds cheap to me.

I believe Meineke shops are franchised...at least some of them are. So costs might vary from shop to shop. They helped me with a custom exhaust system awhile back and did a damn good job for a lower price than other shops, and you might be able to print out a coupon from their website...

If you are putting together a custom exhaust system, I strongly recommend Magnaflow mufflers.http://www.bigexhaust.com <-- great prices

dont worry so much about crush bending.

some guy got sick of the crush bent crap and went and did dyno tests... the crush bent performed the SAME, and in some cases better than mandrel. so like i said, dont worry so much about crush bending, especially on NA's.

omG? im so sorry to make this thread alive again but i just had to say that i got my car back today with a 2.5 inch pipe with 40 series flowmaster and it sounds AWESOME! only thing is that about over 4500 rpm it gets a little too loud but otherwise VERY nice, very deep. and seems like better throttle response? or more smoothing? something different but I LOVE IT! I recommened it to someone who wants a nice exhaust with a budget of about $200 since thats what i payed for the whole thing. :)
