Sooo, I've been hunting for another s13 for 3 months now, had lots of people flake out or sell from under me, but today I bought this. :yesnod

1992 240sx base, finally a 5spd too.. haha
Picked her up for a nice $2600, after a free tow thanks to AAA, she now sits in my driveway.

Clean title not a single dent or ding anywhere, just some faded paint.

Onto the bad! haha has a small crack in the windshield, needs a break switch, needs a coolant reservoir tank, needs the rear latch for the hatch, and tires all around. Has the usual surface rust by the spare tire, but other than that its rust free.

Heres the kicker.... 63,031 miles!!! girl sold it to this shop in 96 and now the son that owns the shop is clearing house. :chuckle:

anyways here's some pics:

ooooh the cleanliness... to bad the dash has a crack in it... not that lucky I suppose. haha

Yes... only 63k...
Image

anybody know off hand what this plug is for???
Image

eeeeew dirty, needs fluid all around and a good clean up.... oooh well

JIC is dead and gone, homie. Go with Stance, Apex'i, Fortune Auto or Powered By Max. Congrats on the new buy... :dblthumb:

nice find but based on the fact that it was towed, does it not run? btw- that plug is a consult plug

Yes there is boost in the future... haha but still a ways off.

it runs, surprisingly turned over once then cranked right up, but because the hatch isn't securely latched, there are no brake lights, and the tires are all rotted its not ready for a drive on I285 just yet. haha

but! just made a midnight run to wallyworld for oil/oil filter/ air filter/ coolant/ wiperblades/ new battery/ wild cherry car freshener. you know, the usual.

I'll def keep up to date, but I don't have the money for parts to consider it a build thread... haha

Don't use Fram filters, they are garbage. Get a Bosch.

JIC coils on the other hand, are not, they are some of the best coilovers for the S-chassis. Look into Fortune Auto, PBM, and D-max as well since JIC is no longer in business.

Be careful, not all JIC's are created equally. If you're gonna spend $800 on old, used, discontinued coilovers... make sure they're top of the line or at least pretty close to it.

For that price you could buy some brand new coilovers... just wait until vendors start having their 4th of July and Labor Day sales...

Spent the day working on the car, got the brake switch installed, fluids flushed and changed, oil filter and air filter changed, and got 2 tires put on the front.

When I was taking the rims off I realized that the dust cover on the shocks is all torn up, does that affect drive-ability? Also the bushings on the front tie rods are dry-rotted, so I assume the rest are, how imperative is it that those get changed?

Still need that latch though,if anybody's got one laying around I'll buy it. thanks!

The dust boot does not effect drivability at all its just they're to keep foreign debris out.
The rotted tie rod bushings aren't a huge concern like omg your gonna die if you dont fix them but it still needs to be done. I drove for almost a year on rotted tie rod bushings and a rotted out rack n pinion no real problems just it was alot nicer when i replaced those things.
As for the other bushings you can get a bushing kit off energy suspension for 150 and they are good bushings.

Also another brand of good bang for buck coilovers are megans, they just came out with they're new line of coils i think they got a little more expensive but they're last line was pretty good friend had them on his s14 and they felt pretty nice. Plus Megans customer service is excellent.

welp, I'll add bushings to my list of parts... thanks.
and if these JIC's are no good I'm either going to go with Powered by MAX or Megan.

not bad then, i wasnt sure. you have me beat for mileage. i have 90k on my 1990 hatch, i paid $300 for it with no engine and no frame rust

yeah, oddly enough the mileage wasn't a real interest to me when I bought it... The one previous to this had 172k and a swap... haha I need to find me a shell like that though... $300...

The only s13's I've found in that good of condition are usually automatics.
