Anyone use megasquirt to tune the SR? I need some good alternatives to AEM and Power FC for big power top mount tuning.

I know that it has been done. I'm going to be trying to do one on mine but that's not going to be for quite a while. You will most likely want to get a different wheel for the cas. I've only seen one person that actually got it running properly but have heard that there are a few others out there.

BEEN DONE... and not terribly great.

The stock duaghterboarded SR computer is good to nearly 600whp(it'll go past that even if u use a lightning maf). PowerFC is meh, AEM costs a lot.

Haltech is $$$ but its better than those.

If you think you're going to make more than the stock computer can handle for you - you need something bigger than a HX35... Perhaps a 35r or a HX40 or HX52.

The lightning MAF and 96lbs injectors would be the easiest way for me to go. I already have the top mount rail and resistors with my cobra MAF and 72lb injectors. JWT says that setup is good for 700 crank or 600whp.

Does anyone on here run the JWT tune with the lightning MAF and 96lb inj????

MS2 is incredible. Enough said. The new tuning software has so many cool features.

The problem with using Megasquirt2 on any nissan motor is that most people want to try to use the stock CAS. The stock CAS doesnt have enough ;for lack of a better quick explanation: rpm input data for megasquirt 2 to time it correctly under all situations. The same is true with any stand alone, even AEM sends out a new trigger wheel with the Nissan AEM EMS's.

You have two options. Either switch out to a 32-1 wheel that are pretty common and still use the optical HALL sensor for your timing, OR, the best idea, is to rig up your car with a Ford EDIS crank positioning sensor. Thats the best way to run MS2, and there is so much support for MS2 and Ford EDIS. Its more custom fabrication and work this way but you end up with really one of the best bang for the buck tuning systems available.

EDIS is a pain and not necessary with the MS2 extra code, as you can run sequential 4 cyl coil on plug and even get rid of the ignitor module.

So no one is running the JWT lightning tune? All I'll have to buy is the 96lb inj and the MAF along with $100 for a reflash. I have been very pleased with my cobra MAF tune running 350whp safely for almost 2 years. Any input on the big JWT tune would be great........

I've never really been a fan of mail order tunes. JWT I'm sure, makes great tunes that work for just about everyone. I probably would be right if I said that their tunes are conservative so that they will work with everyone. If you were to use a tuneable set up you would easily be able to get a few more hp tweaking the timing and a/f in a few spots.

I'm not sure exactly what the set up is with the JWT equipment but chances are it's a pair of 27sf512 chips in a daughter board. If that's the case you can download Tunepro or similar and rescale the tune for bigger injectors and maf. You could also just take it to a good tuner in your area and tell him what you have and see what they can do for you. Chances are that they wouldn't have any issues working with what you already have.

This is not true, I am currently using an AEM standaone with OEM CAS wheel. It may have been true in the past because there is a CAS recalibration file on AEM's fourm. But i didnt need it, runs perfect
