Hi im joining the ranks of KA-T owners out there, and im wondering if anyone has bought the MS kit. It seems you can buy a fully assembled MS unit for around 400, or the kit for 210ish. Has anyone tried to put one together? I just cant see paying someone 200 bucks to put something together for me.. (unless its obscenely complex)

are you getting a mega squirt or mega squirt II? I have found the fully assembled units for $ 260 and 345 respectively. To put the kit together you need an ok heat variable soldering iron(50 on ebay), a steady hand, and a good amount of time to kill. I have been reading up on the kits for a year and a half and from what I found it just takes time to read all the info and learn all you need to. What you have to decide is if saving and extra 100 - the cost of the soldering iron is worth your time and effort. Oh and don't expect too much help from 240 forums because it is not very common eventhough it is a great system. I've been asking questions for a while with limited response. Good Luck>>> I will post when I start mine. here are a few links to help.

Judging by the write up for the CA, it seems extraordinarely complex and time consuming. You guys have some mega guts for doing it yourself. Wiring has never been something I want to screw araound with too much

I generally try to go towards top end electronics when i buy so i would probably go for MS2. Im still kinda on the fence about it, while i think the experience would be good for me i realy don't want to end up with a @#$%ed circuit board. Im going to do some more research and make my decision.

too be honest, and I being honest its really easy building the board. I never did any soldering before hitting megasquirt. Before doing the megasquirt board I practiced on the Stimulator than did the Megasquirt board. The only thing that sucks is that it does take awhile usually takes me 7 hours to assemble and test.

Heres a pic of my numerous ecu's. I build kits where you just tap into the ignition wire and off you go.

I'm going to use MS on my LS1. I orginally bought it for my KA-T. If you don't put it together yourself get one that is warranted. Stay away from assembled ones on ebay. My friend put mine together I can ask him how much he would charge.

@The_Chosen_One: You wouldnt happen to have a kit that I could get to work with a 1974 Datsun 260z chassis and a 1995 Infiniti q45 engine would ya?

I have all the original electronics for the datsun, but nothing for the q45 engine yet. PM me
