Hey everyone!

I haven't posted in a while, I've changed quite a few things with my setup and finally got it dyno tuned the other day. It's running on a MSPNP unit, I haven't had any issues and overall I'm very pleased with it. If anyone has any questions about Megasquirt feel free to ask, there aren't many people I know of that are running MS on the KA. Final numbers were 366 whp and 355 ft/lb at 16 psi. Specs are:

K1 rods
Wiseco 9:1 pistons
Cosworth head gasket
ARP head and main studs
Delphi 1000cc injectors
Precision 5431e Turbo, .48 AR exhaust housing
Stock ignition system
BKR7E's gapped to .025"

Good numbers buddy! When are you hitting full boost? With the 2871 series being so affordable these days I'd be hard pressed not to go that route.

Nice results! I'm impressed with that power out of a .48 housing, I thought they'd struggle past 300!

Is this MSPNP the 800 one? How straight forward was the install? As easy as the website says?

Thanks

Boost hits around 3500 rpm. I wanted to tune some timing down low to improve spool up but I ran out of dyno time.

I'm not sure what the price is but I'm running the MSPNP. Install was extremely straightforward, the only things I had to other than get the software set up correctly were to wire in the IAT sensor and move a jumper on the ecu's circuit board. The IAT sensor uses the MAF wires, so it was just shortening and splicing some of the wires.

Did you upload a base tune from somewhere or did you build your own from scratch?

It came with a basemap for NA applications, so luckily I didn't have to start from scratch. For boost timing I found some timing maps online and made sure they retarded timing about .75° per psi. With fuel I took a look at the algorithm that MS uses for fueling and figured out roughly what my cell values should be. I intentionally made them high then I autotuned with target AFR's to street tune. Autotune is awesome, you just set up your target AFR table and turn it on and it will automatically adjust your VE table to match the AFR's you set.

I wonder if the autotune function would be capable of accounting for subinjection like propane or alcohol. DO you know if it uses lambda by chance? That would be friggin sweet if it did.

I don't think you can use lambda, but you can set up secondary injection. You set up autotune to only turn on under certain conditions, so you tell it to start tuning once secondary injection turns on, and you'll be able to autotune for a target AFR only while meth or propane is being injected.

The thing about using meth or propane is that the AFR will be different then with pump gas. Which is why people use lambda when burning 2 different fuel types. I may be able to figure something out though, I'll admit, I'm impressed and happy that they finally have the ignition issues fixed. That was really the only thing keeping me away from MS.

You're coming to Carlisle so I can check it out with my laptop. Or BAN.

WD, you can set up 2 AFR tables, and if you set everything up you can switch AFR tables when it switches to secondary injection. That way you can have your normal gasoline AFRs on table 1, then when you switch to propane/meth it will know what to do.

D-unit, thanks! It's a lot of fun to drive, as long as I stay above 3500rpm or so boost is instantaneous. The dyno pulls were all in 4th gear, it kept spinning on the dyno in 3rd haha.

Very intriguing Chris, thx for posting up the info. A big part of me still wants to ditch the KA and swap in a V8...
