Buy it from Underground Motorsports (here ). Its only 60 bucks shipped and worth every penny. It's great.

I want to know how it compares to the OBX-R one. How easy is it to miss shifts? I got an auto now but I should be going SR very soon and am a little scared about those fast shifts seeing as I learned sick on a cavvy:rolleyes

OBX is ****. any company that puts "Racing _________" in front of any product is ****. either buy a B+M, NISMO, or get that megan racing single peice...

i think im going with b&m. i've had megan racing products in the past. they work just fine, but really aren't top notch and don't seem to quite please me. it's probably worth the money, but i'd rather save up and get a b&m because that buzzing would really piss me off.

I would have rather gotten a B&M, who wouldn't. BUT, obviously 200+ dollars for a shifter is kind of expensive.

SO, 60 bucks for this megan piece is well worth it. The megan shifter is VERY precise, direct, and has zero play!! I haven't missed a shift yet. I dont miss shifts that often anyway (heh), but with this, my shifting is even more direct than it was. Its a very nice addition to the 240.

The buzzing comes from vibration. This is common with all aftermarket short shifters, but it's also an easy fix.

All you have to do is remove the plastic tip from your OEM shifter and fit it onto the Megan.

In addition, I wrapped a few pieces of tape around the upper ball. With these two mods, no play and no buzz.

I just installed one today on my S14. I will try to get some pics, vidz, etc.

Has anyone here tried the Jspeed short shifter? I've seen that they come with a mounting plate similar to the B&M one, looks pretty beefy.

I used black electrical tape just to make the throw tighter.

You dont have to do that. I just did that so I would make it fit as tight as possible in the hole.

They are nearly identical.. ive got the obx, I would only change for the B&M SS... that one looks good; but the MR and OBX ones are pretty much the same... as seen in the pictures below:

I honestly don't see much difference there...

The only diffence I've noticed is the OBX gets ****ty reviews, and the MR one is getting decent reviews so far. Hopefully it lives up to my expectations since I ordered one.

the "jspeed" shifter is the same as other b&m knockoff shifters on ebay. my gf bought the one thats for 60 + 15 shipping on there and its identical if not better than the b&m. no vibrations, no trouble getting into gear, no grinding, and really short throws. the only thing that sucks in the knob which is too skinny IMO. i dont want to link it but heres the pic. the pic is incorrect b/c the plate is blue and theres a metal bulge thingy in the middle of the stick to keep the boot from falling.

I have to say fellas, I have the obx, and mine shifts just fine. One thing I noticed was the difference between the SR transmission and KA transmission, although I hear they are identical. For some reason the shifter was sloppier on the KA transmission. It feels great on my SR transmission (although I am not sure if this has to do with the new Nimso transmission mount). Not sure why. If I had to replace it, I would only do so for a B & M.

im willing to bet that the megan and obx come from the same factory except that the obx one comes with screws and plastic pieces.

The OBX does not come with any screws...just nuts and bolts...and all the appropriate sleeves for the transmission...I think you right, they are probably made in the same factory, with one getting an anodized blue plate.

I have the OBX shifter, have had it for almost 2 years and I've been happy with it, but I've had to "modify" it to meet my approval.

Now.. The REAL question is..... Is the megan shifter a two piece like the OBX?

You get what you pay for. When I can justify spending the money, I'll be buying a B&M, the Megan one is sloppy, and the shifts are no shorter. This is my personal experience.
