I was very reluctant to start thsi thread, but I did search, and came out with what seems to be outdated info(back in 2004-05), and I believe things have changed so...

Looking for recomendations on some coils. Before I go any further let me state my uses. Mostly daily driver, but it usually doesn't seem like street spec coils are ever that rough on daily roads. I like to do a lot of touge stuff, canyon stuff w/e. Would like to do track but probobly not in the near future. So I guess I don't necessarily need something super stiff or super top-o-the-line, since roads are a little bumpier than tracks, and Megans seem to be the way to go, but compared to the Stance coils or other mfr am I really going to be losing any consideral performance? Megans seem too cheap to be true...

I'm making this noob thread because I don't have any knowledge of aftermarket coilover suspension. If anyone has alot of first hand experience and opinions with different coils what do you think about Megans and what would you recomend for me?

Flames welcome!

well, the thing is that ANY coilover will defeat even the kyb agx or koni yellow + some spring set up

if all it matters to you is daily driving, just get megan, silkroad, k-sport... which ever one that is cheaper.

I have stance gr+ pro coilovers, I like it. But all I do is spirited driving, I am sure the k-sport I bought few days prior to stance is just as good for my purpose.

Speaking of which, time for my shameless plug I have a set of k-sport coilovers, which is exactly the same as the megan for sale... only driven for less than 1 mile

I will even install it if you paid me

I am in CA, you can pick it up.. call me if interested 626 261 9414

Loveless, I assume you ment "any coilover will defeat [megans] even the kyb...". I also assume spirited driving is the same thing I do; agressive driving on windey roads(canyon roads and stuff). Nothing track. I was interested in the GR+ Pros, but they seemed kind of like a track coil, and I don't want something rediculously super stiff for saftey reasons of course.

Most of my driving enthuseism is grip, so you understand I'd probably be picky and concered with the coilover I get. I don't know what to call it, touge I guess? It seems drifting is so mainstream no one really talks about grip driving, so excuse me if I'm labeling the driving style wrong. I honestly considered Stance, just read alot of good things about Megan so I figured why not save money if the performance isnt noticably different. But if Stance is like a world of difference, please elaborate so I don't end up not getting something I'd rather prefer.

Thanks alot man!

ha, you're like me then. I am not into that stuff either...

Maybe thye are overkill, I don't know, I don't have other experience with coilovers. I can tell you that I don't dislike them either and they're for daily driving.

if you can afford it, go with stance. If you can't afford it... by my k-sport

Price is no obstacle, just a matter of saving up and paciance(sp). How about this, compare your k-sports to your stance's. Notice any lack of confidence in turns or performance?

Its seems just smarter to go with gr+ pros... any other opinions?

I have HKS hypermax II's... I love them... iirc, spring rates are 9/7 and 30 way adjustable. imo, it's ideal for the streets, yet not too weak for the ocasional track. as far as tuning convenience, you adjust damper on the bottom, instead of the top like megans, its a real pain in the asss sometimes, but I heard that's actually better, don't remember why though.

also, when choosing a coilover, keep in mind the stateside support it has, i.e. for rebuilding purposes. iirc, companies like JIC have stateside support so that if you blow a shock or whatever, you can get them rebuilt (fixed?) for less than 200 or something like that, instead of having to purchase a whole new set over one ruined coilover. you might not wanna buy from a company that only have japanese support, it will take forever for them to send you back the coilover you send them.

i seriously considered getting the HIPERMAX IIs at one point after my TEIN Circuit Master RS took a dump. But I got a good deal on Super Drifts, so I just got them. Isn't there a caster adjustment for the fronts with the HIPERMAX?

Jesus christ! 2k for HKS coils is alot! My original intent was to have my parents buy me coils for graduation, but I doubt they will go for that. They look nice though.

What about APEXi coils? The N1s are just as expensive as the HKS, but the WS are the same price range as Stance. I might have just answered my own question...

Looks like Stance, unless adrian wants to help me steal a set of HKS IIs. Is Stance japanese? Anyone have a good link I can research this stateside busniess?
