I'm going to be buying some coilovers for my 89' and im torn between buying the megan street coilovers and one of the ksport coilovers. I would just like some suggestions as to which set will give me more "bang for my buck." I also know ksport has a grip of different models for their coilovers so i would also like to know which is a good set. ex: kontrol pro damp, slide kontrol drift, etc. Incase you are wondering what im going to use my car for, its pretty much my DD and i dont exactly track much but i would like a suspension that would be an easy transition between a track and street car. But for the most part its just my pretty DD that i like to drive aggressive once n a while = )

but yeah i'd love some great suggestions as to which you guys prefer. thanks guys

I'm in the same Boat

Had KSports on my EVO and they were Great..granted I only had them for a short while and No Track time but Spring rates were good and Construction was Awesome - PRICE...go to Honda-tech and get The Hook up.

Have Friends that both have the Megan Race (Newest ones) coilovers..1 has a S2000 and the other a S13 coupe. Both Love them and Have Seen track/drift use.The Come Ready Out of the box and look Very Nice.

Megan Race (not Street ones) I have found for $850 shipped.Ksports are $740shipped I believe.Haven't checked the Springs rates but would Like a set for my Supra and my 240.My hatch is Daily but I'd still like some coils unless I can find a Good Strut/spring combo that may be cheaper.

from what I understand these are actually made diff (in diff location/not china - but assembled) than the regular "Ebay Megan" stuff...or thier older coilovers.higher Spring rates etc.

from what I remember they weren't always Silver colored but these are actually called the "Race" coilovers.thats why they are $900+/-.Megan has always been a company of Cheaper priced products.these actually having a higher price then the norm.

Out of those two are Megans.

I was planning on getting Megans, but I'd rather save up a little more to get Stance.

Could be Wrong but thats what everyone I know is "calling" them...even the guy we are getting them from in ATL.I could have sworn megan Sold a diff coilover a while back that was Cheaper than these (did they)...kinda like those D2 coils.Oh well.I've only owned TEIN and K-sports and thats my actual only coilover experience.

I'm prob talking out my *** but that was my understanding.

continue.

It has pillowball mounts, just not solid bushings and the valving is a tad bit smaller

I shall weigh in since i have hadMeganSilkroadJicKsportApexiHKSD2Cusco

and a few others on my various cars

1. Do not ever look at the name Ksport againeverjust believe me, trust methose of you that say they are good, are stupidI apologize for being blunt, but i bet you bought them casue they were cheap, and wanted coilovers badI bought htem becuase i needed them while i rebuild my silkroads, then i was going to ebay them...they are that cheap and disposable

2.Buy stance/spl/hell even megan isnt THAT bad*** end is a little bouncier that i woudl haev liked, but it works

I think JIC is the overall best IMO.next is cusco

but hey, its yuor moneyI have had track and street time on all the coilovers above including stance GR pros (and i loved them!! wish i could have bought a set)

Just save up and buy an Over 1,000 dollar setup please

Have you considered SPL's KTS coilovers?

That's what's on my s13. My stiffness is set to 8 up front and 10 in the rear, and it's really not a bad dd. Might go with 1kg/mm softer springs front and rear to give it a more road compliant ride.

$1108 shipped can be beat it seems, but think about the quality. And remember good customer service starts after the purchase. Are the other manufacturers going to be able to expidite your replacement parts when you need them most?

The only thing I would say against the KTS coilovers is there not very corrosion resistant.

Unfortunetly I don't have any experience with ksport or megan anything, much less coilovers....

any reason in particular why ksport is that bad?? i mean i appreciate everyones opinions but i'd like some specifics. cause at the moment a friend of mine can get me a damn good deal on the Ksport Slide Kontrol Drift Damper System. so to me it seems like the way to go without any specific reasons why i shouldnt.

My buddy has the Cusco ones, and my cousin has the JIC ones... neither of which have a seperate pre-load adjustment. I have the HKS hypermax II's, and that as well doesn't have a seperate pre-load

none of the coils on the HKS line have preload adjustmentthe hypermax II's iirc are discontinued, and I think they sell the rs, and d instead, neither of which have preloadhttp://www.hksusa.com/images_products/2104.jpg

Ill admit they did bounce in the rear end for the first couple hundred miles, but after they got settled in it rides alright and no more bounce. But I guess its up to u if u want them. alot of ppl say they suk on some buttcheeks, but I think they're decent
