Hi guys, my cousin told me about this forum a few weeks ago. Haven't had time to post anything because i just finished moving to a new place. So I have had my '00 Infiniti Q45 for almost a year now and was debating which route i should go with the car. Then just recently I had bought the Coilover kit for the Y33 Q45 and on the website it stated that the Coilover needed some extra modification so it could be installed property. But I honestly have know clue where to weld the spindles to.

This is a note left on the website when u are on the general description of the coilovers:

NOTE: Original spindles must be modified and welded onto the lower front brackets, similar to coil-over setups for the AE86 chassis. The front lower brackets are made of steel for this purpose.

If possible can someone that was successful on the install post up a tutorial. Because I planning on doing everything myself at my cousin's mechanic shop instead of paying extra to an idiot that needs 3 days to do the job.

I recommend contacting the company you purchased the coilovers from. If that does not work, contact Megan directly. I don't know anyone who has installed these, but am glad I am going with S13 ISC suspension instead of the megan option.

I have noticed the last couple days that Megan/KSport technical support is not the best.

So you already bought them and now your wondering....hummmm. Anyhow, looking at that guys car on VIP, how long would you expect that to really last? My car is lowered 2" and going over speed bumps is an adventure, I cannot imagine how you can go that low.

I saw that website too, call those people and get exact instructions to give to a mechanic, it sounded way too scary for me, require welding!! But now that you own them you want to make them work. Where are you located? Maybe someone on the board and help you out.

I would make sure you give it to a qualified welder. Not just any mechanic. I personally know the person who owns the Q with the Megan suspension on the link I gave. He's had them for about 5 months now rolling slammed daily driving. And just recently we took off the springs to install UAS, so we got to look and inspect the suspension. All is still well and welds are still intact. Like I said just make sure the welder is good. Preferably a tig weld as it produces the highest quality welds. Like my friends on his set of Megans vs. a Mig weld like JIC's, but not that a mig weld is bad or anything. Because if a professional name brand like JIC can use a mig vs. a tig and have no problems with worrying about breaking, then why worry about it. Other big name brand proven quality suspension like Aimgain and Insurance also use the weld on sleeve concept to the factory knuckle with no problems. I also have another friend who has JIC coilovers on his Y33 that he also drives everyday for about 2 years now with no problems and he bought them used, he is slammed too. And another friend with Aimgain on his Y33 for about 4 years now, same mig weld as the big name brands with factory knuckles. Slammed as well. I know some people might not like to lower their car, but the fact is people do it and have been doing it for a very long time. And in Japan the Y33 is a common popular VIP car that people use to slam and drive daily, with the suspension I've mentioned, since the model came out and still continue to do so.

So bottom line...have it done right and you wont have any problems. Welding, if done properly, can last forever. It's common sense on how the Megan setup is supposed to go...cut off the old, weld on the new. And I know Megan isn't exactly top of the line, but it is a cheaper solution if a budget is in mind for brand new adjustable suspension.

I'm located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County. And I got the Coilovers for a hook up price of 800 brand new. Anyways thanks for all the input. I called a few shops that had the coils in stock and all they were able to give me were names of other people that CAN do the the install for me. But i'm not looking for people that can i'm looking for people that know "exactly where to weld the spindle to. and if i can find some instructions i am capable of doing it myself so i can save the money. :D

Well the Megan setup is fairly new and your probably not going to find much information or detailed instructions. The way I see it is that this is a basic fabrication project that is pretty straight forward. Cut off old tubes, slide on new tubes, and weld on new tubes to knuckle/spindle. Simple as that. It's a no brainer. You really don't need instructions. Just some ingenuity. Please refer to the pics in the link I gave to give you an idea where you should weld. Because those pics are pretty much all you should need to go off of. I mean, what else do you need to know?

Good luck to you and post pics if you complete the project.

Hey check this out. This car has pretty much a tutorial with pics on what you have to do for welding the suspension on the spindle and it's a Megan setup. Not a Y33, but same process. A lot of pics for reference.
