I would make sure you give it to a qualified welder. Not just any mechanic. I personally know the person who owns the Q with the Megan suspension on the link I gave. He's had them for about 5 months now rolling slammed daily driving. And just recently we took off the springs to install UAS, so we got to look and inspect the suspension. All is still well and welds are still intact. Like I said just make sure the welder is good. Preferably a tig weld as it produces the highest quality welds. Like my friends on his set of Megans vs. a Mig weld like JIC's, but not that a mig weld is bad or anything. Because if a professional name brand like JIC can use a mig vs. a tig and have no problems with worrying about breaking, then why worry about it. Other big name brand proven quality suspension like Aimgain and Insurance also use the weld on sleeve concept to the factory knuckle with no problems. I also have another friend who has JIC coilovers on his Y33 that he also drives everyday for about 2 years now with no problems and he bought them used, he is slammed too. And another friend with Aimgain on his Y33 for about 4 years now, same mig weld as the big name brands with factory knuckles. Slammed as well. I know some people might not like to lower their car, but the fact is people do it and have been doing it for a very long time. And in Japan the Y33 is a common popular VIP car that people use to slam and drive daily, with the suspension I've mentioned, since the model came out and still continue to do so.
So bottom line...have it done right and you wont have any problems. Welding, if done properly, can last forever. It's common sense on how the Megan setup is supposed to go...cut off the old, weld on the new. And I know Megan isn't exactly top of the line, but it is a cheaper solution if a budget is in mind for brand new adjustable suspension.
