the box is definatly not done it still has to be filled alittle more to smooth out the curves and fill the gaps between the 3 sections. I have the rear deck still out . When i was buildign up the rear deck the fiberglass resin and bondo caused the particle board rear deck piece to bow upwards to about 2 inches above where it should be.. it looks cool so it was a f'up i meant to do lol:). anyway i'm having to fabricate a trim piece to fill the gap and make the whole setup flow in smooth curves without and gaps or rises. I'm still not really sure what i wanna do about painting them. You can kinda see my chameleon paint on my interior trim pieces it fades from a purplish maroon to a dark gold. I'm either going to do it all in chameleon, all in black, all in vinyl, or anything you guys might wanna comment on doing. For anybody whose intrested in maybe trying to do this there self feel free to email me at [email protected] or you can catch me on msn messenger at the same address or yahoo as vegadjco. Building something like I did isn't to hard to do you usually learn how to fiberglass pretty quickly. All the materials to get the backseat where it is now has been around $300-$325 that being fiberglass resin, matte, bondo, paint, a sheet of 3/4 mdf, paintbrushes, rubber gloves(around 200 or so lol ).

yep just have to pull the seats out and disconnect my wires in the trunk and each section lifts out. I probaly need to pull the subs and amp out so i can bolt or screw the boxes into the car so its less likely to be stolen or if i got in a wreck i wouldn't have them coming at my head lol

no my back seats are just sitting in the garage. yeah if you pull your driver and passenger seats (14mm bolts i believe) it makes it alot easier to sit in there and work. maskingtape and aluminum foil work the best for protecting the car. Also i don't know if you noticed i left the rear side panels in, i could have pulled them but then you'd have to build your boxes to fit perfectly against the metal of the car which you could do, But would be insanely frustrating.

For most of the info on basic box building like that check out the Car Audio forum and Look For the Fiberglass Sticky up top. AyJay and I complied alot of info on how to do it.

First off after you masked the interior trim and the metal where the rear seat used to be, start by painting a layer of resin onto the tape/aluminum foil. don't do the whole thing just sections at a atime. You'll have a sticky surface to tack your first layer of fiberglass matt to(this really helps when your doing vertical angles like on the trim panels) and just keep building up layers. Build it up to about a quarter a 1/6 of in inch or so. This is going to take awhile let me remind you. after you have the back of the boxes amp rack glassed and hardened with alil bit of muscle you can pull the whole piece out. And wa la a perfectly custom molded structure. I had no set plans drawn out to build this, it was all images i had in my head, after i had the piece out i thought about how big my amp was what subs i was using and so on and i used a reciprocating saw to the the one large piece into 3 sections the sub boxes on the right and left and the amp rack in the middle.

Thats enough to keep you busy for acouple days or weeks whenever you need more help feel free to ask. and if you need me to get more detailed or less just tell me. I'm not a very good teacher but i'll try my best to get my ideas across in word form. i'll dig around my computer and try to find some of the pics of the box in its crude forms while it was being built

Don't worry about it your still learning you'll catch on most of its common sense. Once you get started and used to working with fiberglass you'll be set.

i was thinking also of fiberglassing the rear side panels and making those the boxes and doing something else for the middle, and also now that i thinkl about it i am getting a 4 point roll bar put in too. so i have to take that into consideration of the amount of space thats going to be taking up. thats why i have searched the web for ideeas but came up with only a few. i think imma start a thread of setups... yeah imma do it ....later lolbut i really wanna do something like yours :) im not a copycat so i'll make mine different ok :pface oh and whats that circle above the amp?

MECP stands for Mobile Electronics Certification Program I went through 7 weeks of training in becoming a professional installer. Make sure you know exactly where that roll bar has to bolt in at so you don't build boxes then have to cut holes through them to mount the roll bar. I was going to get a full 8point cage done but now its out the question with those boxes in the back, unless i modified the cage at 2 of the supports.
