How can you say that. Steel Battalion was released 2002, the Mechwarrior series started in 1989.MinisterofDOOM wrote:That video is pure, 100%, unadulterated wannabe Steel Battalion.
But that's not a bad thing at all.
Doesn't matter. The feel of the video was not like any of the previous Mechwarrior games, it was like Steel Battalion. I've played most of the existing MW games and Steel Battalion, so I'm pretty well equipped to compare. The urban setting, dodging behind the building to avoid the rockets, the cockpit view, the overhead probe thingy, the guy punching buttons in the cockpit, the multiple (albeit nonfunctional) displays in the cockpit...that's all SB, not MW.krazydriver wrote:

Agreed,I've played every MW game at some point, but I've never played SB. The newer mechwarrior games did incorporate more urban environments. (Mercenaries, and MechAssault). But while they may be adapting play features from SB, they're really just adding stuff that existed in the battletech universe but was never implemented in the games. Hopefully it ends up being as epic as it looks.MinisterofDOOM wrote:But as I said, that's not a bad thing, because SB is superior gameplay-wise to existing MW games anyway, so a combination of SB-style gameplay with the excellent BattleTech universe could be epic.
Just saw the vid - this thing can't arrive soon enough! Its a little hard for me to call it wannabe Steel Battalion though as there isn't a version of SB that I can play on my 360.MinisterofDOOM wrote:That video is pure, 100%, unadulterated wannabe Steel Battalion.

Yeah i have it, it's a decent game. My copy has some WICKED scratches in it and freezes up alot (I've buffed it like 3 times), but when it works it's fun.bmike818 wrote:anybody tried Chromehounds for the 360? I have it and I like it.
i also have a couple of Armored Core games, I MUCH prefer the army destroying capabilities of a mech to the fast "ninja" bots.MinisterofDOOM wrote:Exactly. I don't want bouncy transforming ninja katana robo karate. I want big, slow, world-threateningly powerful robots. That's why I play MW and SB instead of bouncy transforming ninja katana robo karate crap.
