Is the 240 known for mysterious starting related problems. My car wouldn't aknowledge that my key was turning the ignition in any way. Not even an attempt to turnover. 3 hours later it fired up on the 1st try. It was hot when it wouldn't start, but fine when it cooled. I'm thinkin electrical, loose connection etc, others say starter possibly fuel pump.Battery test indicated 3 quarters full.Anyone?Thanks-sean

ps. 93 240 fastback...140,000 KMS. Never a prob. Performance Stereo.

when you turn the key do you hear clicking of relays inside the car? Do you hear the fuelpump comeone and prime for 3 seconds? Do electrical accessories work?

If yes to those then i suspect a dead spot in the starter.

I think your car was just flooded (too much gas not enough air)You waited which was one way to fix the problem or you could just hold the gas pedal allowing more air to come in, then start it.

IS THE STARTER OVERHEATING? MINE USED TO DO THAT. WRAP IT IN THE DYNOMAT HOOD CRAP OR BUY ANOTHER ONE, IT IS EVENTUALLY WHAT I DID. THE DYNOMAT GOT ME BY AND THEN I JUST REPLACED IT.

I had this problem for a while. I ran fuel injector cleaner through my car and it eventually went away. I know i've had a bad fuel pressure regulator, still do, you might check that. :batman

Check it out, I got a screw driver and lightly tapped the starter, I guess I loosened it up because bam-o it started, I'm pretty sure if I replace the starter alls gonna be good. Thanks for your input people who replied

I have the exact same problem. When it's hot and the windows are up, it won't turnover. All the accesories work, but it wont turnover. Not the relays because we swapped some and did the same thing. Not the started becasue I have a wire going from the starter that I tough to the battery, and she starts. We've pretty much narrowed it down to the ignition switch, which I'm gonna replace pretty soon.

I wouldn't think it being flooded would be it, cause I'd think it would still turnover.

Loose battery cable has happened to me, but the accessories didn't work when that acted up.

Could be one of a hundred things.

Be careful how hard you hit it. These starters ain't like the one's from back in the day, when you could wack 'em with a hammer. Wackin' these breaks 'em up inside. Don't ask how I know that.:pface
