Why? Any minute saving of engine power to be had by switching to an electric fan is then consumed by the alternator working harder to power the electric fan, with the added bonus of earlier alternator failure......net benefit of switching is actually worse than using the stock setup.

I agree with above. Plus, the Q's charging system is only just sufficient for powering the onboard computers, audio, lights, ignition, etc. A significant load on the electrical system like that is not suggested.

The alternator is not fun to replace.

Electric fans are worth between 5 and 15 HP on many V8's. Extra Alternator load may be an issue but I'd be interested in actual amp figures for all the accessories as compared to the alt capcity.

I replaced my clutch fan with dual electrics, but not for any BS horsepower gains.

I run dual electric fans , but I usually only need 1 running. This in turn gives me a fan to use if the 1st one decides to crap out.

I also like having the room to get down in there to change/check belts without scraping up my hands/wrist.

I don't have to worry about the fan blade cracking or splitting anymore, like is so common with most Q45 clutch fans.

I don't have to worry about the clutch seizing anymore and shaving itself off at the water pump, leaving me stranded without a fan or a water pump.

I am also planning to upgrade my alternator to a higher amperage unit soon so alternator life should no longer be an issue.

The noise level is almost equal between the 2 options, but only when I am running both electrics is it comparable to the clutch fan.

And for you horsepower junkies, my M90 puts out way more power than any clutch/electric fan mod out there.
