mechanical fan dying .. need help

after gettin off the highway today, i hear a loud *** noise sounding like a truck coming from my engine compartment. My neighbor(he heard me inside his house) told me it was my mechanical fan making the noise. I trust what he said and seems like hes heard that noise before.

I've decided to not fix the problem and ditch the mechanical fan type all together. so i'm searching and searching and theres no real definate answer to my question.

1)The fan is connected unto the water pump pulley with 6 10m bolts?2)Should I get single, dual elect fans? 9, 10, ..12 inchers?3)Leave the AC fan or take that out?4)Where should i get the fan from? Local auto stores or is there any company that makes elect fans specific to 240's? 5)Are they really held with zip ties to the radiator?

1) the fan is connected with 4 really small nuts (like 8 or 10mm)2) a single 12inch fan would do unless you are having heating problems.3)take it out along with the entire radiator shroud4)all fans are universal, research will help you find the best one, permacool is a really good company i hear.5) junkyard ones maybe

my cars almost junkyard status so zip ties will be great lol

so basically the ac fan is useless and the 12incher will pull enuff air. hmmm permacool ... sounds like ice cream yummy.
