Hey, I just got my oil changed by the dealership and they forgot to put the dipstick back in, it is pretty much desert over here and it has been raining, which is wierd. So far I have put over 200 miles on it since the oil change and found out yesterday about the dipstick. Is this bad? I'm sure it is, I just want to get some insight on this, and some possibilities. Thanks.

Since you dont have a dipstick, I'd just fill the engine to the oil capacity specification. That should do for now until you get a dipstick..... You probably did not loose any oil through the missing dipstick but maybe introduced some foreign objects through the opening. So put some duct tape over it for now. Notify dealership

I doubt anything bad will come of it. It would be very hard to loose any oil out of the dipstick tube. It'd also be very hard for anything to get IN through it, especially with the hood closed.

I would just plug the hole with something to prevent **** from splashing around. Then, replace dipstick as quickly as possible. Absolutely nothing bad will happen because of it.

1. Plug hole2. Get dipstick from dealer3. Never go back to a dealer that screws up an oil change!
