So I've done a search on here about installing an oil pressure gauge(mech) and got alot of info. But in my 91 I only have a dummy light. I've located the lights' switch at the block and I think I have the necessary parts but my search did not answer the question I have.

If I add my adaptor into the block to feed the gauge and leave the dummy light plug off will (a) the dummy light stay on? and (b) the ecu throw code?

thanks for any info:help

No your dummy light will not come on, the dummy light oil pressure switch turns on when there is low oil pressure and with it unplugged it can never turn on so your light wont work but it wont throw any codes. I have a electonic oil pressure sender screwed in there and have no problems.
