So last week I did a compression check on the right bank to figure my problem out, 0 compression. Pulled her apart to discover I timed the exhaust cam 180 off so it opened right after the intake closed. I couldn't help but laugh myself into a coma. I'm real lucky no valves were bent. The gears have a similar dot on both sides, I somehow missed the blatantly obvious defining mark on the right side of the gear. Anyways, nice to have solved the puzzle.

What a maroon. You're to be commended for taking on the job in the first place. I would have probably done the same and bled to death from all the cuts, scrapes and nicks inflicted along the way. How's she run now that all the cams are working in sync?

While it's apart a second time I'm doing the pulleys and considering knock sensors. Probably will be running next week. What I'm hoping is that in my stupidity I didn't fry the passenser side cat by running raw fuel through it. Yuck. I didn't run it long, but it could have been long enough. I didn't smell anything and usually a burning cat is foul smelling.

Thanks for the props, this is far from my first timing job though. I was just cocky and in a rush and F*d up. The second time around is a piece of cake. I was cursing everything last time but it's pure gravy now. Except the IAC that is. I'm also used to Iron blocks/heads so I'm having to tame my tightening frenzies some.

Torque wrenches will save your hiney if your are not accustomed to tightening into aluminum. They will even if you are. I have even had a bolt strip using a calibrated torque wrench. That was a real disappointment.

When my parts get here. I'm ordering them today, so probably middle next week. I'm stoked since I've had the car a month and drove it for only 4 days. I love that sunroof, and the weather here is just starting to get kinda sunny sometimes. The great NW is having a very cold year this year, usually by now it's blatant spring but winter lingers on... In fact there are still dudesley's skiing up on the passes. In May. The way things look it may not be til June 09 till we see some frickin sun. It may be rainy 9 months of the year but the summers here are the best anywhere.
