I was thinking (not always a good thing) and could it of happened that they did drive through a big puddle and some water splashed against the block. The cold water hitting the hot block after that driving might of made the already faulty block become brittle enough to blow. I just was thinking about what cold water does to hot metal. Its a long shot.

i have seen it many times and all of the clues are there. you sucked up water. trust me. the rain, the car just dying, women driving, cai, it all adds up. it definitely did not throw a rod on its own.
