Hey all, we are a company that creates luxury performance parts. Currently were looking for our first dedicated shop car and due to my love for the Fairlady Z I have chosen a Z car, specifically a 370z originally. After searching a bit more I have it down to 2 choices:

2011 370z base model with 7-speed automatic
-or-
2008 350z Nismo with 6-speed manual

What would the Z family recommend for a high horsepower build? We are looking at twin turboing or supercharging either car we end up with.

Our resident forced induction expert (jerryd1987) hasn't been around in a while, I think he's relocating, but he's always recommended the VQ35 over the VQ37 for turbocharged applications.

I'm sure if you search and read through some of his posts he'll mention why. I'd tell you if I remembered!

Welcome to NICO! :badger

Sounds good, I will be scouring his posts then! That was my main concern, knowing which engine would be better off with twin turboing, it's nice to know that the VQ35 is preferred (that means I get to choose the Nismo and all it's goodies). We will have a build thread when all is said and done hopefully. Also we currently have a 370z cold air intake being developed at the moment and most likely the 350z will follow so we also have something to offer the members come March!

Thank you for the welcome!

Initial plans will be our own MDesign Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake, high-flow cats, mid-pipe (is this worth it on the HR?), new plugs, pads, drill/slotted rotors, and UpRev tune. Next step from there which will come sometime in the summer, I have a performance shop lined up to prototype a new twin turbo kit and then plan on tracking the car.

Question though, 2 of the factory Rays are damaged and will need to be repaired. Am I better off finding another set of wheels all together or would repairing those Rays and keeping them on the car help in future resale since they are OEM Nismo (rare?). If not, any recommendation of proper "Nismo" wheels as I'd like to retain as much of the Nismo aspect as I can.

Man pedal FTW, unless you are building a car for someones wife or mom, then the automatic is acceptable.
