I got the mounts and the instructions are for a rb25 which I was told by them is the same install. THe install talks about denting the firewall for the starter. Do i really need to do this or is that rb25 specific. Whats the point of mounts if I have to hammer in the firewall. I don't want to get engine in then figure out I need to take it back out.

look at where the starter needs to be , take a really big ugly hammer and smack that area ive done 4 of these swaps and 3 out of the 4 we had to take the motors back out and smack it some more. but in all truthfulness your going to be hitting the area that's in the transmission tunnel , more of a upwards motion right at the opening. (its 5 in the morning i hope this makes sense..)

hammer as much as you want, you can always make it look pretty after you have the clearance

Keep in mind you need to make it wider then deeper. I went about twice as deep as I needed too and not wide enough. My starter would contact the firewall at idle. It was annoying.

this man is telling the truth.. I hammered mine in about an inch deep from the front to back and starter (the trans really) is hitting.

I need to pull the motor out again and hit center out to the pass door if that makes sense.

If you dont do this esp with the mckiiney mounts which i have as well . You are gonna have a hell of a time lining up the motor and it will sit croocked and still hit the firewall
