if you havent been to http://www.mckinneymotorsports.com lately, they are advertising a 15% discount when you buy 2 mount/drive shaft kits and 20% for 3+ kits for the month of december only.

this is mounting kit of my choice and i was hoping my buddy whos also going rb would be able to purchase at the same time but it looks like he doesnt have the funds. i emailed mckinney and they said they would bill each person speratly and shipping can go to different locations...

so im here to ask if anyone else is able to purchase this month ?? im ready.

post here or email if you are able to... [email protected]

YOUR CHOICE!!! lol yell much?

I didnt say the mounts didnt work just that for 400+ dollars I exspect something other than 4 pieces of steal and a half assed Poly Mount that has borken on my buddies car. Its just some poly with two welded bolt and washers pressed in. Atleast they could cut slits in the washer to it holds the poly better.

We modded the mounts by drilling through the Poly bushing and putting one solid grade 8 bolt through it with washers on either side and lock washer to hold it down. Seems better to me cause the Poly Bushing cant seperate from the mounting bolt/washer.

Just go out and look at prices. All the different mounts are pretty much the same so its up to you on price you want to pay. If you know someone with fab skills they can probably make the mounts like McKenny.

I bought the TopHat ones simply because they were cheaper... and its STILL just 4 pieces of ****** steel. What a ripoff. I'm probably gonna end up fabbing my own if those things seem weak when I get them in. And the company will be getting some very nasty letters if anything breaks. Maybe one of our sponsors here will see that its only -100- MAX in materials and start trying to support the community instead of lining their own pockets. I'm all for capitalism, and I respect everyone's right to make a profit - but gouging is annoying. <end rant>

p.s. apologies... rough week,

i can understand your point being there isnt alot of materials involved and that a skilled welder/fabricator with a short time couldnt copy or improve on mckinneys design ... but some of us (like me!) dont have the tools, time, or patients to be messing around with that. the way i look at it is that is the next thing to a "bolt in" for my rb25 if i use the mckinney mounts. top hats - i wasnt impressed with the design and after reading the mods you have to do with the install i decided against it.

as for pricing - yea its not the cheapest but mckinney (and others) are in a niche market with very few direct competitors... so they can literally charge what they want to make a profit. until ebay starts pumping these mounts out, we're all going to be forking out ... for me, even if i were to pay a friend to fab something up, buy the time i pay for the marterials, labour, a comparable custom driveshaft, and misc ... im sure i wont be saving much.

as far as the design flaws, blown240 can you please post some pics if you got any ?? who knows, maybe we can send them to mckinney to show them they have a flaw so they can correct it (or we can do it to our own if we get them)

thanks for the imput all !!

You retain the stock 5-speed driveshaft if you're using the R32 crossmember.

correct me if im mistaken, but you would need to be using the rb20 trany to retain the stock ka driveshaft as their yokes are the same. the rb25 needs a z32 NA yoke ...

Ah...I was not aware you were talking about the 25...I assumed we were discussing the 20. As far as the type of yoke for the RB25, I'm not sure of that answer.

We want feed back from Customer to make the products better. We use all USA made steel materals and certifed welders. engine issolators(poly mounts ) are made by one of the world leading maker of POLY mounts. we are in the process of changine the driver side mount to correct the separation problem with drag racing and drifting torque on it... you guys make it sound like its the worst product to hit the market ...

im sure with anything on the market, there is failures... and under what conditions ??? not to mention that there could have been installer failure.

HxC, i think its going to be cheaper going direct as mckinney is having an up to 20% sale if you havent noticed.

you dont believe me check for yourself cause i just bought them from phase 2 recently, theres nothing on mckinneys site saying 20% off.

http://phase2motorsports.store....html RB26/25 mounts $600 + ship

http://mckinneymotorsports.com/products rb26/25 mounts $625 + ship

3rd line from the bottom ....

"Dec 1 to Dec 31 BUY 2 RB25 or RB26 Kits get 15% off or 2 driveshafts!!!!!!!! Buy 3 of them and get 20% off!!!!!!!!!!!!! MERRY CHRISMAS... "

if i trust my math skills ... and i do ... then its cheaper to get them from mckinney.

not only that, phase2 most likely wouldnt have any revised mounts or would have to place an order with mckiney for them unless they are just selling what stock they bought

phase 2 actually orders it straight from mckinney at cost when you order it and sells it at there price and it comes straight from mckinney, cause i got the revised mounts that i bought 2 months ago from phase 2 and mckinney shipped it to me not phase 2, if that makes any sense to you. great that there having a sell but that doesnt help me at this time. good luck buying there left over stuff cause its going to go real quick.

i'm just stating it how i see it on this very forum. you weren't around to see it---so shsssssss. the installation was done properly, failure due to poor quality in the mount. worship it all you want.

We are only up-dating the Blue poly isolators not the steel adapters. We have had some of the isolator fail under hard use if drifting and drag racing. so we have gotten with our supplier to get a better isolator for the drivers side which takes all the stress in drifting(constant clutch kicking) and drag racing starts. all kits sold from now until new one get here will be able to up grade (swap out) there isolators when new one be come availble. WE have never had a steel componet fail in the 10 year we been making the kits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Mack Mckinney
