Hey guys I'm in the process of putting an RB20 into my S14. I put the McKinney mounts in today:

Note the passenger side (left) mount. The bracket that points down doesn't exactly match up with any flat face on the crossmember. Also, they both interfere with the power steering cooling loop.

A better view of the passenger mount. Note about 1" between the mount and the crossmember vertical wall.

The driver's side one looks ok, but still interfering with the PS cooling loop.

Did I put these in wrong? Backwards? :

Are these even meant to be used on an S14 x-member?

Keep in mind that I got these from someone who gave up on their swap (maybe this is why!) and they are about 2 years old at least. Must be an older model of the mounts.

Or are these just messed up like that? I can probably build a spacer for the passenger side one to fit, but I'd like some input from the more experienced swappers on here.

Thanks in advance for your help.

those don't look like S-Chassis conversion mounts. Check with Mack, he's always good on product support.

I may be wrong but I think the part of the mount that has 2 holes should mate with the motor mount.

they are on backwards lol

the 2 holes are for the mounts. 1 for the S chassis crossmember.

Hmm. Anyone have good photos of these mounts installed? I couldn't find anything by searching here or google.

This photo right off McKinney's site shows them mounted the same way... so I guess they aren't backwards.

Still, aren't I supposed to drill a hole in the x-member for the bottom bolt to go through?

i had same problem make a spacer and drill threw crossmember. worked for me and its very stable that way. just use a long bolt theat goes all the way threw. its kinda weird and they should have given us a spacer but it will work.

PosmS14, thanks for your reply! Finally someone who knew the actual answer and wasn't just guessing. Or blindly telling me that I put the mounts in wrong.

I'll be making some spacers like this.

And now I'm worried about oil pan to ground clearance... the pan really hangs down below the crossmember like that? Holy crap that won't be good with my low ride height!

Geez Posm, your pan is like an inch off the ground. At least that is what it looks like in the second picture lol. A pine cone would be enough to dent that pan...

Mckinney mounts fit like crap. I know first hand, mine fit like crap, my buddy's rb25 s14 fit like crap, everyone i've talked to has the same problems. If you are going to use them be prepared to make them work on your car. The only good thing i've found with them is they do place the motor in the ideal position. If I could do it again though I would make my own, they cost about 50 bucks to make.

not sure what everyone else's problems are but mine was mainly the front support bracket being too long (had to notch crossmember), had to elongate the holes in the factory mount location, and the polyurethane tears easy due to being made as one piece. I think if you made it a bolt through design I would be much better

yeah, I have McKinney mounts in my S14 with an RB25 swap, and all I had to do was notch the driver's side. I love 'em lol.
