lots to read but the highlight was that they are spending 5% of cost or $2500 on average to fix problems [even with the plain jane low cost versions] NOW almost triple what they spent in 97-98-99.........on the 430-500 series it is almost $4,000 on average for every car!

An afterwarranty owner would have to spend $8,000 or more to get the same repairs.Makes getting an extended warranty service insurance policy mandantory! But then what do you do after 100k......and they bought Chrysler ?

holy crap, someone bought a neon? I'll never step foot in one of those pieces again. I had 4 in one week. They were all rentals, first one the brakes went out, the 2nd one overheated on my way back from lexington,(didn't care so i drove over an hour while overheating), third the transmission when kaput and the 4th didn't have working a/c but I only needed it for one more day so it wasn't worth my time. Guess it didn't matter, i ralfed in the back seat anyway on my 21st b-day.

Hey dennis,I read a long term test from autoweek today on the new Q and the dealer replaced warped rotors at 35,000miles for being under warranty. I thought rotors were an expected maintenance that the owner should take care of? But it kept there $/mile down.

I think I remember reading somewhere that Mercedes took a big drop on one of the JD Power ratings because the C-class were coming back for so much warranty work... which causes the dealers to be so busy that every customer at the service department had a bad experience.

Always love to tell potential German car buyers to check out the loaner fleet at the dealer before buying... those are the cars they'll become familiar with.
